I have tried everything to get my 2.1-update1 droid back to factory settings or even reflashed but nothing has worked... here are my specs

Model number: Droid
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
Kernal Version: 2.6.29-omap1-g7fa8788 android-build@apa26#1
Build Number: ESE81

History behind the problem:

So i had rooted and flashed my phone from 2.0.1 to 2.1 right before the public release of Android 2.1. when the 2.1 was released to the public and there was no need to update so i left everything as it is. Recently with the release of Froyo 2.2 i have tried to update my droid but it's simply not working. So i tried to reflash and reinstall everything from a clean 2.1 slate but i'm not even able to reinstall stock 2.1... What am i doing wrong?

when i try and apply update.zip from multiple different mirrors i get the same error message

E:error can't open cache/recovery/command

when i try and apply the update.zip is get this error

eocd marker occurs after start

help me!

DM updater says my phone isn't rooted but i have the superuser permissions app

i cannot access su when using terminal emulator

i have wiped all memory cache and all of that from the recovery mode but nothing has worked. Even deleted most of the content from my sd card using astro manager

what else can i do!? help me!

EDIT: sorry i might've posted in the wrong section... sorry.. i'm new

rom manager is broken i get

"an error occured while attempting to run privileged commands"

i think my superuser permissions app is broken because my phone isn't recognizing that it's rooted at all.... but my super user app is still there

Try downloading and flashing a rom, any rooted from rom manager and try again after it's flashed

no can do.... get the same error message for every option for downloading roms and for even fixing permissions...

From what I can tell, you flashed to 2.1 and that broke root for you. Do you still have sprecovery?

Well you have a non rooted droid, just having the SU ap doesn't make you rooted. Unless you can use a pc somehow and flash the sprecovery sbf you're kinda stuck.

Although I remember someone saying there's a way to get a 30 day trial of windows on VMWare (not sure if correct name of software) if you can do that you can run rsdlite and flash sprecovery.

thanks.... is there anyway of getting terminal to work because if i can install sprecovery via terminal emulator then i can probably reflash back to 2.0.1... but when i type in su it doesn't work says permissions denied

I am sorry. The version of 2.1 you flashed wasn't rooted and stripped your recovery to stock. Without root you can't do anything with terminal.

cannot root or unroot

i am having the same problem but my power button is broke so i wanna go back to stock so i can take it back to the store.
did you ever figure it out

cannot root cannot unroot

i have the superuser app but DMupdater says i am not rooted and rom manager says i do not have permission to flash anything recovery or a rom
