Can't remove facebook account from social networking widget.

I'm trying to remove my Facebook account from the Social Networking app since I'm not happy with how it adds all the contacts. Every time I try to do it I get an error saying it's unable to remove it - "An error has occurred. Please try again." Any ideas? I have a rooted Droid 2. The facebook application is not installed.
I've tried rebooting to no avail .
