Hi all -

So, I can't send any pictures via text (I can recieve, tho). I am not rooted, just installed the new update (which didn't help the problem at all)... When I try sending it just waits a few minutes, then gives me the "national coverage" error message (which the verizon rep told me is basically a generic error which means nothing) and the text fails.

Non-picture texts send fine.

I've tried the usual rebooting and battery pull, which doesn't help. Spent an hour on the phone with Verizon, and they tried resetting my account, etc. - no dice.

Now I have a support ticket open with verizon, but while I'm waiting, thought I'd check in here. It seems unlikely that I'm the only one with this problem, but I haven't been able to find anyone else with it on this forum.

Thanks very much in advance for any help/advice/wisdom.

Never had any problems sending MMS with Pictures. My X automatically resizes the picture so it can be sent.

Mine does the auto resize too... just can't send them.

Did some browsing online and just as I thought it is most likely a problem with your account. Something might have been accidentally changed.
I suggest that you go to Verizon and have them look over your account info to make sure that you can receive texts on your phone line.

Thanks for the reply quicksilver. Unfortunately, I've already been through that with the verizon rep. She double-checked my account, reset my picture messaging capabilities and then finally reset my entire account. No go.

Do you have a task killer installed on your phone?

You might have to do a hard reset.
But first do you have wifi turned on?

having wifi on or off doesn't seem to affect it. i'm hoping to avoid the hard reset, but it's sounding like that's all that's left...

I am reading a thread on android forums and just covering all the bases.

Yah i've been circling that option but trying to stay away if i can.
The only other problem i've come across is having parentheses around your contact’s area code. But that problem was on the Droid not the X. I would have assumed that it would have been fixed.

Are you using the stock messaging app or a third party app like chomp or handcent?

Also can you try and reduce the capture sive of the picture in the camera app to 2MB and then try and send a picture message.

Using the stock messaging app (tried chomp and handcent, but prob remains there too, so uninstalled them as I actually prefer the stock app).

The picture size being under or over 2mb doesn't seem to affect anything.

thanks for trying guys.

Then the only other option that i can think of is a hard reset. Remember that all your contacts, calender events, and email is synced with google and will sync again when you log back in. all of your apps, texts and other stuff will be removed.
