I looked at some test videos I recorded last night while driving. The phone was sitting in the car dock pointing out the front windshield. Upon later review, the video I recorded was jittery and the audio had continual static. Doing another test video, out of the dock, I noticed that it seemed like the auto focus couldn't make up it's mind on what to focus on causing the image to zoom in/out ever so slightly.

Has anyone seen this? If so, how did you fix it? I will record another test video and upload it to youtube if it happens again.

I think I figured out what the problem is. With the extended battery you're not supposed to use the insert that comes with the dock/mount. This causes the phone to sit in the mount a little cockeyed (not perfectly level) and as you drive the left side of the phone bounces up and down while in the mount.

I actually did this the other day just mounted to car doc and recorded my drive to my aunts. I guess it continously focuses because images are constantly moving and it wants to keep "focus" on a particular point.

Does anyone know how to turn off the auto focus? As well as shrinking pix from 6mp to 3 or even 5? I really never want my pix to be 6mp big. Its a waste of memory, 3 - 5mp is perfect size for emailing a pic.

Video uploaded to youtube.
It was a little rainy this morning so the auto focus problem wasn't as easy to demo, but even with the regular battery on the phone and using the insert on the dock (which made the phone physically fit better) it still had audio rattling issues.

Are you using the stock camcorder? I've been troubleshooting with the developer of the DailyRoads Voyager app. It is an awesome app which I have used on other Android phones, but on the Bionic and the Droid 3 (but not the X2 or OG Droid) the video has purple/green bars over it. However, once that bug is worked out, keep it in mind, cause the app automatically records in the background and can overwrite the videos automatically if you don't choose to retain it. (IE nothing interesting or noteworthy happened) so then you don't use up all your storage space.
