Cheap easy way to car dock your Droiid

I just got a super strong magnet from ebay. 1"x1"x.5" rated to hold 53 pounds. Now i just need a small metal plate to slide under my case...

I'm thinking of doing the same. I already have some neodymium magnets.

I know I should've kept the circular metal slugs I punched out of the electrical supply box I was working on a few weeks ago.

ok after watching the video a few more times. I noticed you used the black metal piece instead of the silver one, but my magnet when placed on back of droid goes into multimedia mode, not car mode. Did you have to take your magnet out in order to reverse polarity

New to the Droid, What is the round plug wire u are sticking in the top of the phone used for?

Many people have an Auxiliary audio input on their car stereo system which allows you to use your Droid as the main source of audio (by playing mp3s or streaming internet radio).

To do this, you would simply connect a standard 3.5mm stereo male-to-male cable into the headphone jack of the Droid, then plug the other end into the auxiliary jack of your car stereo.

Yes, you would have to turn the magnet around. Or use the dockblocker app (paid app to block multimedia mode) and car home (native app) to put your Droid into the car home mode.

Thanks, I just ordered a 3 pack. I was playing around with some magnets and it doesn't take a very powerful one to make it work. I tried a Magnetics (kid toy) and it would activate it.

Yes, they do. The polarity of the magnet determines whether the car home or multimedia mode is activated by the magnet.

Hey, did you think ever that the part you stick onto the phone it will fit under the seidio case and if it does do you think that the magnet is strong enough to hold through the case? What you say regard that.

the magnet is not strong enough to go through the seidio case and maintain a secure grip with your dashboard. It will stick to magnet but a slight bump will knock the droid off the magnet. I attached my metal plate to back of my seidio case and it is working great!
