Zaggskins lets you put custom designs on, and they can take a beating. I have a clear one on my droid and had one on my last phone, and they do an excellent job at preventing scratches, and don't leave sticky residue if you have to take them off. It's about twenty bucks without screen protection. The screen protectors last forever, but make the screen a little bit tacky.
