I poke around this board dailyto pick up tricks, latest news, ect...anyway, you guys and gals have been a big help....thanks

Now for my question, I went searching into manage app>filter>running, and came across checkin service, vers. 6. I looked at what programs it can alter and it can read and write your gmail, change virtually all info on phone, make calls, use your authentication credentials, ect, ect..

Can some explain what this program or app is for?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure this is a built-in Android-OS thingy... Probably manages sync-info or something? Not real sure what it does, but I'm thinking it's built-in to the OS... Maybe someone else here knows for certain...

EDIT: Upon further searching, it appears that checkin service uploads events and statistics (which events and which statistics, and where they're being uploaded to, I don't know). It *is* a built-in Android-OS service. Android will not boot without it.
