Chrome Eating Data and Battery?

Member
Chrome has been eating my Data and a battery when my phone isn't even on.
It also heats when I'm actually using chrome with screen on.
Is there a solution or browser replacement?

Droid Razr Maxx 4.1.2 Stock

-Go to Manage Apps.

-Find Chrome.

-Clear Cache.

-Clear Data.

-Reboot.

If the problem still is not resolved:

-Uninstall Chrome.

-Reboot.

-Reinstall Chrome.

If that does not resolve the problem:

-Search for "Browser" in Play Store.

-Install new Browser.

If it still happens with another Browser:

-Backup your data and FDR.

I would suggest using Greenify to hibernate Chrome until you actually click on the icon. I like Chrome because it immediately syncs across devices.

I don't use Chrome's syncing feature. I'll check out Greenify, i hope that doesnt drain my battery.

Also, Chrome uses 8% of battery when not in use and swiped off the app switcher

I don't have root, so no greening for me. Any other suggestions?

I would disable chrome and use the stock browser it's much quicker and more stable. Chrome is too buggy on the razrs. I try to use it from time to time because I like to use the sync between my tablet and pc, but it's pretty much unusable on my max. I get excited when there is an update for Chrome and try it out, but it's way to laggy and crashes.

Got it down from 8% of battery to 2% by disabling some add-ons and plug ins that were useless. Ill see how it goes the next few days

Its idle when I don't use my phone and its closed. When I DO use it I use it for a while. That image is when the phone was not in use for some time.

I think your best options are to either delete Chrome, use only the default browser, or root and use Greenify. I just checked my battery and my Greenified Chrome didn't even show up on my battery usage.

If you are using Chrome a lot for 2 days of battery use 11 percent sounds pretty normal. After 24 hours of use on my RAZR my browser is usually between 4-6 percent. I honestly think your Ok.

My phone wasn't used for 2 days is was idle a lot because I went to the beach for the day and left it in the car.

I would uninstall chrome and reinstall. I did that the other day and chrome seems to be running a lot smoother on my phone.
