I just reopend the site and there was NOT a message this time.

A full scan of the Windows side of my Mac indicates there were no infections. I did use my Droid to visit the site during this period as well. Was this an actual worm or was it just a false alarm?

avast is 96% done with a full system scan, so far so good.

accessing forums again on Chrome as of 10:18am with no more issues

The issue should be fixed. We are doing research to find out how it happened. A handful of other forums have reported the same problem.
