Chrome To Phone Now Available In Market!

Hasn't it been there for a while? I've had it at least 2 weeks or longer and I'm sure I got it from the Market.

All Things Google Chrome!

Instantly zap links, maps and phone numbers to your Android phone with Chrome to Phone!

Thursday, August 12, 2010 | 10:25 AM

Ever wanted a way to quickly and easily send links and other information from your desktop or laptop to your phone to view on the go? The new Chrome to Phone extension adds a button to your Google Chrome browser that instantly sends the current web page, map, YouTube video, or selected phone number or text to your Android device running Froyo (or Android 2.2).

Suppose you're reading an interesting article on your favorite news website and need to leave for an urgent appointment. Simply click the extension icon in your browser to send the link to your phone and the device's browser will automatically open the link, ready for you to view on the go.

Chrome to Phone also works seamlessly with Google Maps. Say you’ve looked up an address or driving directions on your desktop. Clicking the extension icon in your browser will push the information to the Google Maps app on your phone. YouTube videos work the same way with the extension. You can also select a phone number on a web page and send it to the dialer on your phone. Selected text can also be automatically copied from your browser and sent to your Android clipboard for later viewing.

The Chrome to Phone extension is available in English for now, but we hope to expand to other languages soon. Check out the help center if you have further questions.

To get Chrome to Phone, install the extension in your Google Chrome browser and the Android application on your phone, and you’re ready to go.

They seem to be focusing on the Chrome to Phone Extension that goes on the Chrome Browser. It's been kind of MIA, I had a tough time finding it but I found it somewhere.

Maybe that's what all the fuss is about.

Chrome to phone was only available on a google codes website with the chrome extension. It wasn't in the market before.

That must be correct because I don't see it in my downloads in the Market.

I just think I would have remembered installing an .apk file. I don't remember doing that.

Getting old….it's a pain.

I havent been able to get Chrome to Phone to work with the Chrome Browser, worked for a few weeks with the Firefox plugin and then that gave me errors, then is started working again.

So I have a question, I just installed it, tested it and worked great. I read about the file is sent, which is this:

Android device using Android's Cloud to Device Messaging service

Is this the same as a text message or is it something else? Like an SMS or something, that ONLY gets sent via a data plan............so no text messaging or picture messaging fees apply? I don't have a text messaging plan on my phone (Use google voice sms for free) and don't want to be getting charged each time I send something.

For some reason I can't log into my Verizon account to check any charges :|

From what I've read here (just found the link), no charges should be applied.

Just want to know if anybody can confirm.
