Got the Droid a couple of weeks ago and haven't done much to it. Just got a few apps and followed blindly some suggestions on the forum. I've spent some time trolling the forum, so thanks to everyone on here. Although some of the threads are way above my head it's great to see how helpful everyone is.
I am a newb in every sense (Droid is my first smartphone), so you may have to speak to me like an 8 year old, or 80 yr old who just discovered the internet
....
Anyways, last night I read a few threads regarding lost contacts after the software update. In fear, I followed some instructions and exported my contacts to the SD card and imported it to gmail (Ironically, I got my update notice in the middle of doing this). Then for some reason my Droid synced with my gmail contacts and imported every contact/email in my gmail. Now I have random email addresses and contacts sitting in my phone contacts.
Did I trigger something when I imported from my SD card to gmail for all these contacts to all of a sudden import to my phone? My phone has always been set to sync all gmail contacts (turned it off last night after what happend), so I'm confused.
Other than 100's of random emails and contacts sitting on my phone, everything seems to be fine with my Droid after the update. Is there a way to undue what happened? Or am I looking at an hour of manual deletions?
Also if I turn contact sync back on, will everyone I email thru gmail going forward automatically import as a contact on my phone?
And lastly, is it ok to delete the import on my SD card? Now that they're in my gmail, I want to delete it but am afraid it may effect the contacts on my phone.
Thanks in advance for any help, and sorry if the post is long.
