Corporate Sync Not Pushing New Email

As a recent convert from Blackberry, I am considering turning the phone back in, as I am still in my 30 day window. I love all of the appas and the keyboard, but I want to be notified when I get emails without having to manually go to the email applications...isn't that the whole point of having it linked up??? If I wanted to only know if I had emails when I manually checked to see if I emails then a basic internet connection would suffice.

RETURN IT. I spent days and days with everyone from my own IT department to Verizon to Motorola. It's a widespread problem, they don't know what's wrong and they don't have a fix.

The Droid Pro and X are AWESOME phones but if you need that corporate connection, your chances of having serious problems are high. I only got push email for about 10 minutes after each reboot - a joke.

I returned mine yesterday. I got an HTC Incredible (also "Droid") and it works fine - corporate mail and all. The issue is a Motorola one. Avoid the Motorola phones for now.

I should qualify that statement... it has worked fine since yesterday. I am so jaded by non-Blackberry phones right now, I need it to work well for a week or so before I'll declare it acceptable. I am hoping that's the case.

Good luck!

Let me add some more. I spoke to Motorola, and after being told by a level 1 idiot that there are no known push/sync email problems, I asked for a level 2 tech. He frankly admitted straight away that this has been a problem since the first Droid, and while it is being worked on, the only fix he could offer is Touchdown for corporate sync and K-9 for POP3 email. He claimed it was an Android problem, but when I told him I had no such problems with my HTC Incredible, he admitted it only affected some devices.

I'm seeing a $19.99 "Exchange By Touchdown," a free "Exchange Touchdown," and a free "Exchange for Android 2.x."

What would everyone recommend I try to use on the Droid Pro? FYI, I'm one of the people who get an authentication error everytime they try to set up their corporate sync account, neither I nor the IT people we contract have been able to even get past that point.

Thanks.

Sync/Push

I've been using exchange sync on the $30 plan, on my Droid 1 for a year now. I have never once had so much as a hickup. Works perfectly all day and night. Stock or custom roms, doesn't matter. Either your exchange settings are wrong, or the battery profile is causing problems, or another app is interfering. Or, you have a bad phone ... maybe it's time to try a factory reset.

Since my last post, I have since fixed the problem. Droids, I did go back and delete all the apps I had downloaded about the time the sync/push began to fail me. That seemed to have done the trick. Thanks for the suggestion and I hope this can help anyone else having the same issue.

Glen

Please check back in a day or so and let us know if you are still syncing without any delays...would love to know if this is a permanent fix...

Actually it looks like a permanent fix. I did this a day or two after Droids post which would make it the 25th or 26th of November (or there abouts). No problems since.

do you remember which apps that you deleted to make your push work again? It would be great if you could share, maybe we can pinpoint the culprit app.

Many people have tried this, wiping clean, factory reset, etc., only to later have Corp Sync again begin to fail. Check the Moto site in the earlier threads. I got a whole new Pro and added no apps and Corp Sync failed after awhile. There could be apps that cause problems, but that is not the total answer.

I tried the Factory reset on my Droid X... didn't help. Getting a Droid Incredible did.

Also, I'm not sure which model Glen and others are talking about? The issue with the phones not syncing is apparently connected to the Droid Pro and Droid X -- not the other models.

The idea of an app causing problems with syncing, reception, connectivity, etc. is legitimate...has happened on various Blackberries, Droids, etc. that I've used previously....

since the Corporate Exchange Sync delay problem appears to be fairly universal on the Droid Pro, it makes me wonder if one of the apps that comes pre-loaded on the Pro may be the culprit....many are blaming MotoBlur, which may end up being the problem, but I'm wondering if somehow some of the bloatware or maybe even the pre-loaded task killer might be to blame...

I will eventually Root my Pro, but not until my 30 days is up and I'm sure I'm keeping the phone....I'd be interested in seeing if anyone that has rooted their Pro and removed some of those apps is having the same sync delay problems with their Exchange email....

I have rooted. I got rid of motoblur and I still have the random push happening.

Anybody had any luck?

Well crap I was hoping that would help eliminate the sync delay...

I would also check corp e-mail if web based to see the source of the problem. I have noticed that is often the issue and is server related

Not sure what to check as it has the same settings as my palm did and my palm had zero problems.
