I bought my bionic from costco on October 1st. Will I be able to exchange it over the phone for the galaxy nexus?

Yes you can exchange it! You have 90 days to exchange so you still have 'till the end of December.

by returning an item that's nothing wrong with it and abusing their store policy? Making Motorola write off another phone in their books? incurring higher warranty cost on their financial statement? I don't know, you tell me.

I forgot to mention that there's actually a dark spot on the screen. It's been there since I bought it so I did not have anything to do with it. It's not much but that still counts as a defect right?

It is not abusing any policy. The policy is that you can upgrade or exchange your phone for another within 90 days of buying it. Not 90 days for a new phone of the same model, but any model at all. He bought the Bionic, is dissatisfied, and wants a Nexus. Nothing wrong with a little capitalism. Maybe Moto should make a better device!:icon_ devil:

There doesn't need to be a defect for you to exchange it. You can simply say, "I want the Nexus, I don't like the Bionic" and they can get you a new phone.

Or people should have integrity, and class but that's too much to ask for some it appears.

You are taking this a bit to far... Its Costco service for their members, the OP is paying $100 per year to be able to shop at a store with an extended return policy. Vendors offering their products to Costco members factor returns and added benefits that Costco offers into their cost of their products. If a Vendor (Moto in this case) wants to avoid dealing with returns after a longer time frame they shouldn't sell through Costco.

Moto is getting the benefit of offering their products to millions of Costco members and within that package deal is a longer return policy. The OP should return the phone and get what he wants and enjoy knowing that he made a wise decision by buying at Costco.

Just because a person can do something doesn't mean they should. Just because a person can, by virtue of their membership, make an exchange for 90 days at Costco, doesn't mean they should especially for no reason other than them having the ability to do so.

I would have done the same thing... but unfortunately I'm a jerk and bought the Bionic on launch day.... I feel as if it were a conspiracy that they didn't release the nexus within 90 days of Bionic... they knew everyone that got it Costco would promptly return their bionics with the accessory bundle and upgrade to this beautiful beast. I did on the other hand go to Costco on launch day and buy a Nexus with an upgrade on my account. Paid on a master card and get the 2 year extended warranty for free and the satisfaction of knowing that within 90 days for WHATEVER reason I want to return said phone for any other phone they offer than I have every right to. People shouldn't start talking morality unless they fully understand the rules and policies set for certain stores. When I bought the bionic I semi-jokingly asked about their policy, then reiterated..."So let me get this straight if the Nexus just so happens to come out within 90 days I can bring my bionic back and you will even trade it out?" .....Costco Worker: "That is correct, unless there is a difference in price, then all you have to do is pay the difference."

I really like Costco. I didn't get my Nexus there but I probably wish I did cause my Verizon store manager gave a hard time on swapping my defective phone the other day.

And Costco also pays their employees pretty darn well. I have a niece in the bakery that makes over 21 per hour which is not bad at all for what she does.

I pay $100 a year for a top membership but I make close to $200 back from their rebate program so that's a pretty good deal! (yes I spend a lot of money there)
