my wifes facinate was getting great battery life before the update. now its dying really fast. she is not rooted and not hacked in any way. But the battery only lasts about 6 hours. any way to fix this? or should i just take the phone to verizon and complain? she is on her 2nd replacement.

This seems pretty common complaint since update to froyo. I've been experiencing too. I turned off the rotation rifle in the notifications toolbar and readjusted my juice defender settings. However it's still very noticeably worse.... Hoping there will be patch similar to what I've read about for the droid.

Get rid of any task killers or battery monitors (oxymoron). Not needed on froyo

Hey all...same here. I went to work, came out (phone on standby for 8 hours) and my battery went from 85% to 19%...so I called VZW. Here's what we did...

-Pulled the battery, waited 20 seconds, put it back.
-Powered back on and updated the roaming...dial *228 and select option 2
-He told me to monitor it and he'd call me Monday to check on it...or if I was still having problems that I could always call back.

Once done, I charged my phone to 100%, took it off the charger, left Mobile Data ON, I always leave WiFi ON, put it in standby and went to bed. 10 hours later, it is still at 91%! Holy ****, they actually helped me on this one.

Hope this helps...

I have super box and super security standard...both not so super?

I just don't get it. My phone has been on for 18+ hours now with average use, and I'm only down to 36%.

There's obviously something we're doing different here.

Hell, I even watched around 45 minutes of feature film this evening on it.

I'm getting better battery life than ever.

All I know is this: if you're multitasking data use (internet, GPS, etc) with phone functions (movies, extended game sessions, camera, etc.) plus phone service, the battery has always died fast.

One would think we are doing something different that would cause a change in battery performence. However, in my case, I have not introduce any additional variables to my normal use. As a result, I should not be experiencing a new battery drain.

My wife has not changed the way she uses her phone but I will try what lionz did and see if that worked. If not ill be taking it to Verizon. Also she has never used a task manager or battery monitor

+1 for me...

My wife's Fascinate was rivaling my Droid X in battery life, getting 18 or more hours per charge with an average of 1 hour of talk time and 3 hours of screen time. Now she is lucky to get 12 hours per charge with similar usage or less.

The display is by far the biggest user of battery life for her. 30 minutes of display time consumes more than twice the battery that 45 minutes of talk time does. This is quite unusual for her phone as well as my DX.

I have did a battery pull and the *228 option 2 with little or no difference, but if it was a signal strength/tower issue the biggest battery user would be "cell standby" rather than "display".

A coworker found the same battery issues and he managed to take care of it after removing all of the new Widgets and things on his homescreens.

The upgrade moved him from 1 honescreen to 7 and he didn't know it until I talked to him. It was also very sluggish.

I'll know more on Monday but it seemed to have fixed him up yesterday.

Went to verizon to ask about the battery drain and the tech said no one in the store is aware of a battery problem. He did not even know froyo was released.

Of course he didn't.
