Custom homescreen WITHOUT being Rooted?

Can a non-root Moto Droid customize the HomeScreen WITHOUT being rooted? Will programs/apps/widgets like OpenHome, or Home++ work without being rooted?

Which app is most stable for doing so, if it is possible?

All of the ones that you mentioned work without root.

Give LauncherPro a shot. Someone just posted about it yesterday and I love it so far. It's much faster than Helix or Home++.

Any of the home replacements will work without root.
