D2 or DX

Definitely the D2. Keyboard is the main selling point for me and I hear that the difference between the camera mp isn't that noticeable.

I was super excited to get a new droid.... but now I am thinking about waiting for the droid Pro! I hope it is a hybrid of the droids and the droid X. I actually prefer the incredible in my hand. Just starting tweaking my droid 1 this week so in no rush to go get a new phone...though all that new memory sure would be nice!

i'm possibly looking to switch to the D2 from DX because of the poor battery life on the X and also because I just cannot get used to this touch screen keyboard as my old phone had a physical keyboard....any thoughts on that?

If you type a lot and can't get used to the touch screen keyboard (and tried swype and/or other 3rd party keyboard layouts), the D2 sounds like the way to go.

As for poor battery life of the DX, I can see it in part due to the larger DX screen --- maybe. Maybe, the DX does take a little bit more juice. However, given the similarities in hardware, I expect that the D2 will have a very similar battery life to the DX (i.e., you need to practice power management to keep the battery drain in check).

For me, I personally don't want to go back to a 3.7" screen after using a 4.3". I definitely could go with a 4" display though. Pity the Samsung Fascinate isn't out yet.

Well crap! I just ordered the Droid X this past Monday, and now there is a Droid 2.... While I have a couple weeks before my phone even ships out to me. I may go in the Verizon store and check the new Droid 2 out and compare to the DX.... Both are same price I believe through the Verizon store. If the D2 is better (loose term) than the DX, then I'll be doing a swap!

I wonder how you'll feel once the X gets 2.2?

I want to see what the Droid X does on the benchmark so bad! They have the same guts though so I wouldn't be supprised if the 2 phones were neck and neck. The keyboard also seals the deal though since the blackberry storm has made me hate touch keyboards =(

The ONLY reason to get the D2 is if you must have a keyboard. The X has HDMI out which I love. I have my dock set up at my entertainment center and I enjoy showing my pics and HD videos I took of my 4 month old boy. It's great. The X shoots HD video the D2 does not. The X comes with a larger memory card. The X has a much bigger screen, which again I love. The X is super slim and when it's in my pocket I can't even notice it there. Once the X gets 2.2 it will put up just as good or better benchmarks so that's a non-issue. The droid pro appears to have a 1.3 GHZ GPU per the news release we got from VZW, so it's not worth the wait.

Swipe is so awsome once you get used to it. I would never go back to a physical keyboard.

So I went out during lunch today and got the Droid 2. So far I'm loving it, the keyboard is really nice, im actually very impressed with it. So far I'm happy with my decision of D2 over the DX

I received my D2 via fedex at 12:32 PM est. I am extremely pleased and have been playing with it straight since.

I've never been a big fan of physical keyboards and I'd like my phone to be a solid one-piece(not saying D1 & D2 aren't structurally solid, just saying I like phones that have no moving components.)

That being said, I went with the X and am enjoying every bit of it.
I've had my X since July 15th and I think I could use a bigger phone. lol It's really not that big... well, maybe I'm just used to it. LOL

X vs 2 is really pointless.

It comes down to ONE thing.

Do you want a REAL Keyboard with a smaller screen or a Virtual Keyboard with a larger screen. That to me is the only "real" difference.

I choose X because I like the Virtual touchscreen and have no desire for a keyboard.
