I bought Textra years ago. Before Pulse ever had a pulse.
Messages with dark mode is nice and I like it but nothing about it makes me want to switch from Textra to it. There's no advantage to it. They're about the same size, both are quick. If I wasn't using the paid version and still dealing with ads I might switch but that's a non issue. As long as Textra is receiving updates and still being supported I'll probably be using it.
I actually added a Messages widget to my phone this morning just to see what it looks like. I can see why some would like it. It's not my cup of tea, but to each their own. It's nice to have options and choices
I really don't use widgets so Textra not having a widget isn't an issue for me. I have a clock widget and when I tap on that it turns my flashlight on and I use the built in weather widget. That's it for me.
It's missing on my work phone also, with the new app update. But available on my personal phone not yet updated. I wonder why Google would remove the widget with this update? Seems kind of odd.
Finally received the new Messages update on my Z2. The new design is starting to seem OK to me, I still kind of like how the previous color scheme was more vibrant.
I can also confirm that the Messages widget disappeared from the Widgets list with this update; but the existing widget that I had in place from last week stayed on my home screen and is still functional, it just now has a dark background be default. Odd.
