I checked in the store and they did not have it there. They didn't even have any working models there, or even a single Maxx HD display. I was hoping to take a look at and use the S3 but I just stopped at the Verizon store after.

Received my Maxx HD in the mail today! Had to install the simple card myself & the activation wasn't as smooth as I hoped but 1 simple phone call & it was good to go!

You have lost your unlimited plan if you paid the discounted price for your HD ( read the fine print ) and once you lose it they won't give it back even if you send them the phone back.

I am aware of no longer having unlimited data. That doesn't bother me since I'm on wifi 80% at work and home.

I figured I'd register and post to let you guys know this Target deal is still going (I just ordered mine today!), and it is the way to go if you live in California. State law here requires us to pay sales tax on the full regular retail price of the phone ($729.00) rather than the discounted price, and if you buy through Verizon, Amazon or Best Buy, you have to pay that sales tax. But if you buy through Target's wireless service, you pay $0 in sales tax. It must be because Target's wireless service is online-only and doesn't have any physical locations in the state -- I believe that is the loophole.

Anyway, very excited to get my new phone, and thrilled with the deal I got. I found out about that deal on this thread, so thanks a bunch for posting it!

Received my Target phone today. So far I'm loving it!! The only issue I had was the automated activation didnt work and I had to call them. Took about 30 min total on the phone to get it activated.

I know there may not be a warehouse or anything but if there is any kind of physical presence of the company such as a local store, warehouse, or HQ, even if you are just ordering from online, you should still be required to pay sales tax. Now, it could be that their [online] wireless service operates as a separate entity but I find that weird since they have mobile wireless sales in the store, unless that is a separate entity from the online wireless sales. As for tax being applied to the full retail price over the discounted price is beyond me. That's just weird. Tax is charged on the sale amount. In other words, the amount that was paid in a transaction. Unless however, it is a discount that is applied to the order (and not the individual item). Say for instance $100 off when spending $150 on an order or even just a certain item. You would be charged the tax on $150, not just $50. So that is just really weird.

Yeah, that's my best guess, because obviously we do have Targets in CA. But I'm just guessing; all I know is I paid no sales tax, and I was surprised. The law itself is very weird, but it's significant when Amazon, Verizon and Best Buy all want you to pay around $60 in sales tax on a phone you're buying for $200. That's crazy.

But some states, if it is considered a "rebate" the sales tax is figured on the full amount. At least it is for vehicles. This has been true in at least five states I have lived in, and the other fives states I cannot confirm since I never purchased a new vehicle.

As for CA....someday they will have an air tax to tax what the normal human will use during a year long period.
