Decisions, decisions

I've seen the Rezound and love it, but the short battery life concerns me. What is your experience with that, scy1192?

TBH, I haven't received mine yet

I'm not too heavy of a phone user though so for my purposes I felt the battery life wasn't a big issue.

pluses for the rezound:
4G
BEST radio chip which can turn off eHRPD and 4G if needed
front & rear cameras
fast CPU
HIGH RES screen
unlockable bootloader
very easy to root
soon S-off so Rom developers have full complete access
ICS Rom available based on leaked update

I don't like extended battery and carrying it in a pocket

extended battery in a holster is ok

too bad you missed the one week $50 deal

It depends on your priorities. None of these phones would be bad just different.

Price/value: Bionic.
Camera/Screen: Rezound
Battery life/build quality: RAZR MAXX
Rooting/ROM'ing: Galaxy Nexus

Yeah...I wish my X had begun it's suicide attempts earlier. I can't believe I missed that deal.

I would agree with the person that said play with all of them and see which one you like better. My decision for the Rezound was based purely on hardware...pound for pound the best phone on Verizon. Battery life can be sketchy depending on how you use it. On the ROM I've been using for the last few weeks, light-medium usage will get me about 9-10 hours, light usage about 20 hours, heavy usage about 4-5 hours. Take into consideration that if you're in a spotty 4G area, that can eat your battery on any of the above phones. The only reason I wouldn't consider the GN or RAZR Maxx isn't because of their guts, but what they lack. Non-removable battery, no SD slot, etc... That and the fact that both have advanced power management meant to kill off stuff you might want running in order to save battery. I prefer to grab a phone, turn all the settings up to 11 and play my way.

Yea, definately check out all the phones and also check them out WITH a protective case on if you are planning on using one. The slimness of the RAZR goes away as soon as you put a case on it and the Rezound with the extended battery becomes a bit of a brick.

Also, each phone has it's own shortcomings, so make sure you can live with the so-so screen & camera of the RAZR or the crummy battery life of the Rezound or the bugs & poor radio reception on the GNEX (just to name a few) before you buy.

Finally, all of these phones are roughly the same price, but don't let $30 in savings sway your decision to a particular phone. Is it worth a mere few dollars to live with your second or third choice phone for two years or more?? I made that mistake with my first smart phone & my last year of usage wasn't so great because the phone was seriously outdated. Spend the litle bit of extra money to get what you want and you won't be second guessing yourself or kicking yourself in the rear because of it. :)

Another option you have is to buy another used Droid-X.

I have no idea what they cost, but it was an excellent phone.

Only negative with the Droid-X was no 4G and no front facing camera for video calls.
I loved the gummy ICS ROM and no 13thagnel has brought AOKP ICS ROM to the droid-x.

Personally, I'd buy a new phone, but I bet there's a used Droid-X out there for under $100.

Yeah, Howard, I thought about that, but I really want a front-facing camera, as my daughter lives in Africa and my phone is my only internet link at home, so it will be really nice to be able to Skype!!! The Rezound wins my vote!

The battery life issue with the Rezound is overblown. If you look at the benchmarks over at AnandTech the Rezound is pretty much on par with the various Droids except the Razr Maxx. It's somewhat worse on talk time but better on web browsing. Throw in the extended battery and you're pretty much equivalent to a Maxx (but obviously bulkier). The nice thing about the Rezound is that after a year or so when my battery no longer has full capacity I can get a replacement for $10 or so and now have the same battery life that it had when it was new. With a Razr I'd feel like I had to baby the battery, trying to keep it between 20% and 80%, since it's not easily replaceable.

What Mr. Smith said. Pound for pound the Rezound is the best Verizon 4g phone out there. Battery life on the stock battery is OK but nothing that a extended battery will help. Plus, with the extended battery on it give the phone a good feel. If your looking for a phone that will hold 4g this is your phone. All the other 4g phones out there have a shakey 4g radio in them. People will swear that they get a great 4g signal from there bionic or razr. But that's cause in there area there 4g network towers are great. Mine on the other hand really suck in my area. At my house when I owned the bionic, nexus, razr and also maxx. I could hold a 4g signal at my house until I had the Rezound. There will be times when your traveling out of your area and you'll need that good 4g radio and the Rezound will hold it. But yeah if you want go to Verizon like others have said and play with the phones to see what you want. Good luck on choosing your new 4g phone.
