Details on Google's Next Nexus 4G detailed; 4GLTE, Android 4.0, HiRes Display

I'm not sure if I want this to come to Verizon or not. I was set on the Bionic given that my upgrade is coming up in August, but this phone is so massively better (mostly the screen, I hate pentile and I want higher res than qhd) that I would consider switching networks for it, especially given the way the upcoming teired data is going to ream my wallet. I use 6-8gb a month on 3g, I can't imagine how much more I'll be using on 4g.

TBH I've never been impressed with the nexus devices. The first nexus was cool but became whatever in a few months. The nexus S IMO was bland.

This seems cool but I'm expecting phones with this soon.

I can only dream of a pure google LTE 4.5 -5" dual core, fat RAM toting bada** phone on big red. If this actually does come out next spring(which is my prediction, seeing their horrid delays on everything else),

Remember, though, that Google said ICS would be ready by this holiday season. Of course they always launch a new OS on a Nexus phone, so I imagine Thanksgiving would be about right.

The only question now is, how the frak do I stretch my already old OG D1 another 3 months?!? I'm already dying for the Bionic here.

AT&T as I said before...

People have made some good points regarding AT&T though: they will only have a select few LTE markets up by then. Why would they release their developer phone specifically for 4G LTE on a carrier that doesn't have a stable & wide-ranging network yet?

It's called patience. :) I will be due for an upgrade in November but if nothing strikes my fancy ... or wallet...than I am staying with my OG D1 which has been flawless. Hey devs, just keep pumping out those ROM's! My OG D1 does what I need it to do.

Moreover, my area isn't even listed to get LTE this year or 2012, so I won't need to spend more dollars on a plan or phone for awhile.

Where did you find a listing of when your area will get LTE?

Meh, there are ways of getting around having to be patient. Just buy a used DX or Tbolt and then resell it after you get your next phone! :)

Well, I don't remember exactly where, but Verizon periodically makes announcements about when it's switching on LTE in specific regions, and about a month ago they released a new list stating that on June 16th they would be turning it on in Sacramento...along with some other cities.

I checked the Thunderbolt forums and it turns out LTE was turned on in Sac last week... a little ahead of schedule. I also just did a Google search and found this: Verizon Lighting Up 19 New Cities with 4G LTE Tomorrow

LTE Information Center

That website is a great resource for 4G LTE official announcements. Otherwise they announce a lot on their official twitter account.

this isnt actually their NEXT BIG NEXUS device...it has been said that Google is looking at HTC or LG for their next big device

This was gonna be part of my question yesterday: whose is this phone supposed to be made by?

And why do you think this isnt by HTC or LG? Is the phone in this article supposed to be made by Motorola or Samsung?

Out of curiosity... why do phones record 1080p, but can only display 720p? I don't know about you guys... but 98% of all videos I record on my phone, I watch on my phone.

One can barely discern the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 50" HDTV. I doubt on a 4" screen it will make any difference whatsoever...

Well many articles have pointed out it will be htc or lg...this is just a follow up on behalf of samsung to their nexus...kinda like what they did with the followup 10.1 tablet

Isn't ice cream sandwhich supposed to be 2.4? Also i doubt the kal-el quad will be pushed out that fast , I'd say maybe 2013-2014. Seeing that dual core phones aren't even standard yet :x.
