Hell yeah I rooted. I paid for the device, I'd like to be able to do what I want with it. When you pay for a PC if you order from a major retailer you can uninstall the bloat and have administrator rights, why shouldn't I have that on my phone? Though I've never had a rooted droid, I'd venture to say I'm fairly tech/computer savvy. I froze very obvious things of bloatware, and backed up my apps and settings for now. I'm not going to try and delete any bloat till we have a 100% confirmed list of what can be removed safely, and I'm not even freezing anything other than the obvious bloat ware like blockbuster and whatnot.
Rooted and running Goddamn fast, can't wait till I can backup my files and Delete those MF'ers, I don't understand making a High powered phone and loading it with stuff that horribly affects performance

The Devs that did this are pretty highly trusted Devs, so, I have no reason not to trust them. But yes, I guess they could add viruses to it. But after helping out so much with other things besides this root, I highly doubt it. I think we're good. Plus I'm sure there's people that would have caught it by now. I don't think Droid-Life would post it without some knowledge as if it was safe or not. So far, so good.
i rooted, and phone is working fine. I transferred most of the bloatware to a different section of the phone, and added the bionic eye. if anyone who understands the blur files better i would love a list of what is safe to remove, or an explanation of what the file controls. dancedroidanybody?
Exactly. I'm half curious.... but other than wanting to delete the Verizon Apps, and the locked Bookmarks, there is really no overwhelming draw for me to root. I'm curious how much faster it really is freezing certain apps, but I would need more information and reports on that before getting on board. I find too many people dubbing Zumocast and DLNA as bloatware where I consider them to be actually useful and welcome. I do not hate "Blur" by any means. In fact, after giving a round to Launcher Pro and ADW, I just went back to the default. The only thing I'd really change about it is to be able to have a forth shortcut on it with the drawer button centered. I actually like the Droid 3 experience as served up by Motorola quite a bit more than I did my original Droid. Maybe a vanilla Ice Cream update would convince me to make the jump, if it looks to be a while before it is officially released for us.
My main reason for rooting my Droid was to overclock it. It absolutely needed it. I have no issues with the speed of my Droid 3 except for the camera/video recorder launch time. If conservative overclocking of Droid 3 yielded better results with the camera start up time, I would consider it. I'd be happier with a camcorder app that allowed me to take control of the focus as needed.
I'm convinced a good lot have always been hell bent on rooting to the point of exaggerating any issues to create a need to fix something. Complaining about homescreen redraws.. you'd think we were talking OG Droid (go back to using that and then we will talk about homescreen redraw issues.) It happens, but it recovers so quick that it's a bit silly to say it's a problem. I'm on board with deleting certain apps and removing any other restrictions that really shouldn't exist against the owner, but this isn't a smartphone that really needs to be fixed.
All that said, I'll be watching to see how the rooted landscape develops. I did plenty of messing around with my rooted Droid. Frankly, it got tiring always having to re-install everything and get all the settings back to where I wanted them. I gave up playing Angry Birds because I'd lose my progress every time it came time to update or move on. It also got tiring dealing with the little bugs and quirks that come with Roms. My D3 experience has been pretty damn smooth and I'm not in a hurry to have that change.
I must have a shotty device (sarcasm) because I've removed 30+ apps and services and tweeked the build.prop as much as I could and I'm getting MUCH lower scores than yours. Even before you froze your apps your scores are higher besides gaming index.. First 3 runs were almost a thousand under your highest of 2 runs. Took running the bench 10 times in a row back to back to get a score ALMOST as high.
