Does anyone find it odd?

That VZW would launch a phone like the Nexus with zero advance advertising to build demand for launch day? Not a single print, TV, or web ad to be found, two days from the rumored launch date.

The Bionic and DROID RAZR at least had a week or two of tease and promotion leading up to the launch.

Well, the Nexus isn't a DROID-branded phone. If VZW couldn't put 100% control on the Nexus, I'm not surprised at the lack of advertising.

I'm also convinced the launch delay has to do with branding the phone. VZW is evil like that.

I think Jamar may be right. It is probably due to them wanting to sell their Droid branded phones. Considering the Nexus is also considered a developer phone, maybe they figure developers probably already know about it! From all of the leaks and what not I've seen, I think Friday is looking like a good possibility as a release date, also considering I went to my verizon store to ask about returning / exchanging my current device for the Nexus and they said without hesitation that it was coming on Friday and to stop in then. :icon_ lala:

Yea your crazy if you think Verizon would rather sell nexus then razr or rezound. This has everything to do with no bloated to make money from.

I don't find it odd at all. Which phones they "push" depends on profit margins, stock, etc. They will always make higher margins on their Droid brand as these have lots of bloatware, which they get paid for. They know they will sell the Nexus to developers and geeks (like us), no matter how little advertising, and the average Joe they steer to more profitable phones.

So it makes perfect sense.

The Nexus One and Nexus S weren't heavily advertised or promoted product launches as well.

I personally believe that since the Nexus isn't going to be part of their Droid lineup that's why they're not promoting it.

Verizon advertises the phones but they don't exactly pay for it. Most of the DROID ads are paid for by Moto. Or at least a half half by Moto and vzw.

hmmm... interesting thought...
Razr released 11/11... 4 weeks ago Friday. It they wait (delay) another week then the 30 day return on Razr is past.

If you bought it November 15 or past, you have until January 15th to return..check your receipt. Mine has it...

Quite Sharp indeed....
Motorola Droid Razor...
Peace!

Verizon doesn't want to sell the Nexus, it's not their kind of phone (not locked, no bloatware, not under their absolute control). But, what they wanted even less was for another carrier to have it at the same time as they were launching the Razr and Rezound. Verizon will keep using any excuse they can to delay launch of the Nexus.

So, Samsung.... how does it feel to be sucker-punched by Verizon? Bet that's the last time you offer a flagship device to them.

Actually Verizon foots the entire bill. Motorola has nothing to do with their advertising.
