i've noticed that when my battery drops to 30% or less, and shows an amber battery level, my x seems to get slower. web pages and apps appear to get much more sluggish. is this by design? does the x throttle itself down to conserve battery at a certain point?
no, no batt apps besides stock. i'm fully stock on froyo now and def notice a slow down on low batt. maybe a coincidence but always seems to pep up when charged. hmmmmm?
On some laptop computers, the CPU has a performance mode and a battery saver mode. BIOS settings exist to switch to the slower mode if running low on battery power.
Could cell phones have something similar?

Never had this problem... had my battery down to 5% and never slowed down. I'm always on Performance Mode in my battery settings. Nighttime mode only switched all my Wireless connections off but never slowed it down.
