Does the Droid HeadPhone Jack just suck or

My headphone Jack is messed up also. If it is touched or moves a bit my sound cuts out or gets static. I'm looking for a nice Bluetooth headset so I don't need to worry about it anymore. I had the same issue with my zune too so I think all headphone jacks are just crap.

I connected my jabra BT3030 to work around this problem. The BT sound quality is not acceptable to me. I would rather jiggle the jack and get better overall sound.

Maybe I wont waste the money on Bluetooth then... I think what I need then is a belt clip while I'm at work listening to music so I don't have to put my phone in my pocket. The headphone Jack constantly gets touched while in my pocket an its pretty annoying.

After having my phone for a couple months I realized lint getting built up in the jack. This was after I tried jamming the cord into it. Fortunately I was able to remove some of it. My jack works for the most part but I can see that the cord doesn't go in all of the way.

most of the time it would be the cable, not the jack.

I have used my phone with headphones, speakers, aux cable in car, etc. Not one problem with any of them.

Come on. We've checked the cables. The cables are good. You are one of the very few lucky ones. Enjoy-

Yeah it isn't the cables, mine does this in my truck with a cheap monoprice cable as well as with my nice skullcandy earbuds. Plus, just look at how many people have mentioned the issue vs how many said theirs is fine.

I have the problem too. I hate it. It's an extremely common issue - and it is my #1 hardware issue with an otherwise awesome device. I'll try the "straw" fix.

Tried the straw fix and it appears to be working! I don't have a camera to get a picture but let me see if I can find an image of the top of a Droid to photoshop...

I've noticed a difference between my headphones and my aux cord in the car. My headphones plug in real tight. The cord to the aux in my car not so much. I still get good sound from both. I think it may have something to do with the quality of the jack on the cord.

Yooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

I fixed mine with the straw trick!!!!! No more crackle. No more speaker out. No more jiggle the cord. I fixed my $500 phone with a tiny piece of drinking straw. I couldn't be happier- glad I finally tried it. It took 3 minutes. I suggest everyone with this problem should stop posting complaints and start posting success stories.

EDIT: here are instructions and pictures. start at post #10.
