Doesn't the qhd screen scare anyone?

I stopped by our local Verizon store and they don't even have a demo Droid 3. He said maybe Tuesday late, but for sure Thursday.

the rep probably just didn't want to show you... we've been showing customers it since the 7th... sold a few already, just have to ship them out, thats all :-p

After just getting rid of my x2, the bionic has become a real contender for me but the screen on the x2 was pathetic to put it nicely.

Doesn't the bionic have the same pentile qhd screen? If it looks anywhere as bad as the x2 I will definitely skip this phone

While I admit amoled is more vivid in coloring (although oversaturated to some), I went to vzw today and looked at the charge and guess what I found when I got up close to the screen? Little dots in the battery meter, similar to the x2. So I think until someone drastically increases the pixels per inch over the current standard, we'll find something to dislike if we look closely enough.

I tell you what, I'm coming from a d1 and love the screen. Now mind you all I don't watch HD 3d movies on nor will I ever on my phone. That's what my over priced expensive TV is for. If pentile means I can see that bad boy in direct sunlight than I'm on board because that is where the d1 lacks horribly! Remember folks it is still a phone. If dual core lte bad ass phone has a couple pixels in the battery icon sign me up as my next hand cuff for two years!

Forgive me if someone else replied but I believe the the much improved ability to see the X2 in the sunlight has to do with its anti-reflective coating and not so much the pentile screen. Someone correct me if I've heard wrong.

The RGBW PenTile display includes a fourth, white, subpixel. This allows for a much brighter display for the same amount of backlight power. A much brighter display will be more easily viewed in bright sunlight. dancedroid

You don't have to look up close to see the pixels on the X2. Why are some people bringing microscopes into the discussion. I can see them easily from a foot and a half away and I noticed it immediately when I first glanced at the phone. Some of you need to get your eyes checked.

If the bionic has same screen as droid 3 ill be happy... i mean the screen is good i am more concerned with the internals

I've been to the verizon store twice to look at the X2's display. I compared it to the thunderbolt and the charge and while they are somewhat oversaturated the pixelization on the X2 is really bad.. You can't read text on it while scrolling, the pixelization breaks it up and removes all smoothness from it, making it dance with jittery edges. Worse is watching a video on it. I watched a high quality video of mine on youtube side by side on the X2 and my D1 and the pixelization and color inaccuracy on the X2 was so bad that it actually looked lower res than my D1. Sure the X2 had the brighter screen but for video and photos that just made them looked washed out, it's the bad kind of brighter, like jacking up the brightness control on a computer screen rather than the backlight. I really want to get the bionic but if the screen is the same I'm probably going to wait to see what the first 4g dual core phone without a pentile screen on verizon is.

So you compared color quality of a display against another display you just described as oversaturated? Doesnt that make it look that much worse? Dunno... well itll come out with whatever it has. there's no changing it now. Yall can hop on the next forum when this thing drops and find the next dual core 4g phone.

Oversaturated, yes. Washed out, no. I'd vastly prefer an oversaturated display to a washed out display. The fact that the pentile screen is washed out should be no surprise when it has extra white subpixels. Wierdly it only looks washed out on video and photos. The main issue isn't the washed out look though but rather the pixelation, as I said. I understand that the reason Motorola is using the pentile screens is that they are brighter and consume less battery power, but for me the tradeoff just isn't worth it. I can shade my phone with my hand or carry a spare battery but there is nothing I can do about the way a pentile screen looks.

Edit: also, the galaxy sII will not be 4g, so that's not an option.

My D3 qHD screen or the infamous pentile screen to me is beautiful. I don't know about the DX2, besides whoever upgraded from DX to DX2 downgraded IMO, it still runs Froyo! But the screen on my d3 is better than my dx. That's my comment.

This is what you guys that don't like the Pentile screen should do?
Go to Off Topic Forum - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum
And talk about it all you want!!! We do not even know if the screen on the Pentile or not. So what you are talking about should not be under the Bionic Thread until the true specs are released..

Thank You and Have a great Day!!!

I guess we shouldn't have any threads that mention the idea having have a dual core cpu either. Maybe we should just wipe out every thread in the Bionic forum until we see any official specs then start over.
