Droid 1 as phone only (w/wifi)

I still have my old Motorola Droid 1 collecting dust around the house and my wife has an old flip phone (Motorola Entice). Can I just take the SIM card (that's what has the phone number on it, right?) out of the Entice and put it in my Droid 1? So that she can make/receive calls on the Droid 1 and use the apps etc just over wifi? I've searched around but wasn't able to find a definitive answer.

thnx,
Christoph

3G Droids don't use a sim card. And for a smartphone to be able to send/receive calls thru VZW, it requires a data plan to be active on the network. You might be able to use the phone on wifi with some type of 3rd party calling app, but I don't know anything about those. Someone else may have a suggestion.
