Droid 2 boots to Bootloader D2.37 message

Droid 2 (stock, no contract) powered up to a black screen with white message in left 1/3 of screen. Message:
Bootloader D2.37
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

I plugged a USB cable into it and the PC. No change. Need some help. Sure would like to call folks for Christmas. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Hope you got this figured out. You need to SBF to restore the phone.

From the look of things, somehow he pushed the phone into bootloader mode without knowing, I bet a reboot is all he needs to gain normal phone usage. Then call his carrier or dial *22898 and activate it with a current number.
