Glad you found the right SBF! 
That's the problem with so many phones being so similar but so different -- stuff just doesn't work across platforms. 
I don't know if there IS a newer SBF. However, if there's an update you can sometimes call it down by forcing a check in the "about phone" area of the settings. Good luck!
