Droid 2 Touch Screen not working

Reilazation

New Member
My Droid 2's touch screen hasn't been working. Because of that I cannot use the phone because I can't scroll the unlock button to unlock the phone. I've tried taking the battery out to turn the phone off, setting it to the factory settings, but once I cannot get anything to work. Is there anything I can do to fix this. Or am I screwed because my warranty is up?

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode?

Power phone off and then Press and hold power button and wait for red M logo. Then release power button and press and hold both volume buttons until after two vibrations, one long, one short. Try the phone in Safe mode and see if it works normally. If so, try normal boot again and see if things revert to normal or you are back to no screen control. If it works normally in Safe mode but not in normal boot mode, you have a software conflict. If not, then follow steps below.

Have you tried Factory Data Reset from recovery menu? Warning, this will wipe the phone clean of all records. It may also wipe the internal storage area and you may lose all stored programs and data.

Press and hold Power and Down Volume. Wait till screen goes black (after vibration).

Proceed to step 2 below.

Alternate method
  1. Power the device off.

Press the Power button then select Power off.

If the device doesn't respond to input, press and hold the Volume Up / Down then press and holdPower button. When the device screen goes blank release the Power button while continuing to holdVolume Up / Down, proceed with step 3.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up / Down then press the Power button.
  3. When presented with the Boot Mode Selection Menu release all buttons.
  4. Press Volume Down to select Recovery then press Volume Up.
  5. From the Droid triage screen, simultaneously press Volume Up / Down.
  6. Select wipe data / factory reset then press the Power button.

Use Volume keys to navigate options.
  7. Select Yes -- delete all user data then press the Power button.

Use Volume keys to navigate options.

Data wipe may take several moments.
  8. Select reboot system now then press the Power button.

Use Volume keys to navigate options.
  9. Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

Yes I tried that, but the touch screen doesn't work, so once it resets I have to go through the start up options but I can't choose anything, because the touchscreen isn't working.

I have the same issue and tried everything mentioned, so I, too, am stuck with the "Welcome to DROID2" screen. It actually happened a few months ago, so I activated my original Motorola Droid, but now that the touchscreen ribbon mysteriously separated on that one, I have no phone at all.
