Your method worked completely. After doing the factory format of Data/Clear Cache, reinstalling bootstraper allowed a reboot and a restore of the image backup I made before installing Epic earlier today.
Epic is now gone and the phone reboots, but the bloatware is back (as expected).
Will have to give it another go once this gets sorted out a little more...but at least I know a little bit more about how Android works..since I've only had an android phone for a day or so, haha.
