Are u installing it in stock recovery? An try downloading it again it may be a corrupt zip an make sure u haven't done any major alterations to the system Uninstalling bloat ect.

The only time u ever get that error is if 1 ur not installing it in stock recovery 2 u have made major changes to the system (freezing apps doesn't count cuz it will still install if apps are frozen) an 2 if the zip wasn't downloaded properly ex. Interrupted internet connection during download or the zip was corrupted when it was uploaded)

If you've deleted an app the patch is looking for, maybe this thread helps:
Motoblur Update 219 +Download (Instructions modified for Root users) - xda-developers
Somebody there has a backup of the system files.

Damn! I had just rooted my D4, fiddled endlessly with TB and SetCPU and was looking forward to seeing better battery life. And promptly they come along with this update, which I just installed following the instructions over at the xda forum, and now - if I get better battery performance I won't even know: Is it the update or did rooting the phone make the difference?
Well, whatever it is - I'll be happy if I get a few more hours out of that battery.

Im right there with you man. I literally finished all my tinkering with freezing / SetCPU 2 days ago.

My hope is that this update, alongside the other updates the younger moto devices have recieved recently, is the precursor to an earlier then expected ICS drop. On my other moto droid devices (OG and 2) I recieved similar updates (also screwing up my tweaks I slaved over lol) a month or so before they got their tasty Google desert update :)

ok, so i had just bought my droid 4 on 2nd, and i hadnt rooted it yet. i was prompted for the update n it kept bugging me so i went thru with it, unfortunately. it updates, and is updated, but i am unsure if i can still root the fone since i updated.

****NOTICE, I NEVER ROOTED IT BEFORE THE UPDATE, SO DONT COME TO ME WITH ROOTKEEPER AND ALL THT CRAP PLEASE.(i just wanna know if i can still root my droid 4 without bricking it, n if i can, with what tools? any one-click tools?)

basically, if i updated, AM I BLOCKED FROM ROOTING?
