Droid Bionics "unfixable flaw"?

So the question is, is the thunderbolt worth looking into now? To me that phone is evo on verizon. Taught I should ask here since I did wanna wait for the bionic.... Any ideas?

Not sure what to make of this but here you have it. From a reliable Hofo source:

If your really posting from a bionic I feel so sorry for you.that _mod edit_ is so far from usable in any way shape or form.I bet that if it even makes it to shelves it will be through a bribe.the Etna and its twin for att both have a major unfixable flaw that will plaque it forever.too bad as I like it's concept.its basically a ggalaxyS with motos XOOMs guts.almost exact!.I been using them as door stops since they are far from ready to be used daily.too bad I couldn't hand them out as hockey pucks.

If it was given the proper dev time then I would feel differently.but knowing it'll be rushed makes it a pass and wait for the droid X refresh or the Droid3.good luck with that sig of yours.

Yep, he was replying to me, I'm bkw13 on hofo. It didn't help that he was completely vague. However, he did say it was "unfixable" as you said in the OP title. That makes me consider getting the Thunderbolt or Iphone 4 on a 1 year contract until the next wave of top tier phones come out next year.

Seems like I saw tweets from blackmanx saying the same thing about the Bionics power mgmt. It does suck. VZW has somewhat of a bad reputation for releasing buggy phones. But this 'bug' sounds bad. Would they release their flagship phone knowing of a problem this bad? Plus, Moto's stock is rebounding. Do they want this slowing or stopping its momentum?

Man....too much conflicting info to make am educated decision. Looks like Ill have my D1 forever.

Seriously though......all my considerations and ponderings about what phone to get next always end in my head with "but its just not my D1" :-(

I pretty much never buy a phone until it's been out for a while. Let the wager beavers deal with the heartache and bugs. I'll buy when it's stable lol

Wow, so much for all the waiting. kinda sad that the "beast" is being upstaged by droid x/2 refreshes lol. My X might very well be my last moto device if this is true (believe me that hurt typing that). I've always thought moto had the best build of the companies this is disappointing.

Thanks for really bumming me out today CK ;)

Seriously though, I just can't see Motorola releasing a flagship series of phones that are plagued with problems.

Completely agree with you on this one, esp once people get wind of this, noone would want to get the phone in the first place. I seriously hope that they deal with this and just delay the phone launch date, or it's going to be a bad year for moto.

I think iPhone requires 2 years....

Anyway, I don't believe the guy, sorry.

To paraphrase... "It's basically a Galaxy S with XOOM internals."
How is it like a Galaxy S? It doesn't have AMOLED, a busted GPS, or ugly bright colored icons.... So I guess since it's a phone, it's like a Galaxy S. (And my StarTAC)

Agree with previous posts.. everytime I think I got this figured out my D1 knocks reality back in my head.. just trying to relax and take it day by day until they reach market and then get a hands on for myself.. but knowing this makes me second look the TB.. of course by end of day that could easily change.. DX2/D3 not sure.. if 4G will think about it, but to my knowledge they will probably be 3G to keep others going until they get 4G..

+1. with the iphone coming to verizon, plus the LG Optimus and HTC phones, plus Jha's touting of the Moto dual cores, Moto just can't afford to bungle this. and, it sounds like a hardware issue, so it's not as if they can release the phone and fix with OTA's (i don't think). Moto may have stepped in it a little by coming out at CES, but it sounds like they better just take some PR lumps and delay release.

I don't know wingdo....he's pretty trusty and is a Moto insider. He has always spoke highly of Moto devices and this is a first. It's reason enough for me at least to have a wait and see approach. I'm now officially out on this one but will watch the release.

I am not saying he's not a trusted source, but these are the two phones (Bionic and Atrix) Moto Mobility is putting all their eggs into. If these two phones go out amidst a big heap of failure I don't think it bodes well for the longevity of Moto Mobility. I cannot see them releasing their flagship phones if they won't even idle w/o severe overheating.

We will have to see. I have no desire to move to any other h/w vendor for Android, so this better be a big bit of nothing. ;)
