Droid Call Quality

go into the phone and dial ##PROGRAM, then go to Vocode and choose EVRC-B, then hit back until you're back in the menu and choose data rates. Select the first option in the submenu and scroll all the way down to the last option. It should be one hundred fifty something by one hundred fifty something. Go back to the homescreen and your phone will automatically reboot.

I think this should help with your call quality on the other end.

EDIT: after dialing ##PROGRAM, enter 000000 (six zeroes) for the SPC password.

What does the data rate change do? And what is data rate?

Verizon replaced my phone today

I'm glad to see this forum as I was having trouble with people hearing
me but I could hear them clearly. Finally, I was talking to tech
support with some questions about my bill and she said" I can't hear
you, this is terrible" so she got me to someone who sent me to the
store for a replacement phone. I'm anxious to try it out tommorrow
calling folks that complained.

The guy at the store said there is a problem sometimes with faulty
microphones. If this doesn't do the trick I will try some of the other solutions here. thanks everyone

Well the only problem I have is when I try to put it against my shoulder while trying to use both hands. My wife says it sounds like a garbled mess, but when I hold it correctly, it is crystal clear.

Also, always make sure that the noise cancellation microphone on the rear top center of the phone isn't covered. When looking at the back of the phone, it appears to be a tiny notch just to the right of the headphone jack. Some cases cover it and that can cause problems with call quality.

Does anyone know if there is a way to turn the noise canceling down, or even off? I know it gets a little frustrating to me, but the rest of the phone makes it bearible.

I had a lot of call issues, but only could get 1 bar of signal at my house. I noticed some work being done on a cell tower nearby the other day and since then, full bars at home. I'm thinking the big V had issues with either there antenna, or the equipment. It's not uncommon for amplifiers to go down, so the cell site runs on only one of the redundant amps usually in service.

Call quality has been great since the change in signal level.

Go figure.

I'm in the "Mine works fine" group.

I'm in that group that doesn't post to say how great my phone is working. I've had no calling problems whatsoever. I use a Blueparrott B250-XT rondo headset almost all the time. I'm a truck driver and this huge headset works beautifully in trucks. No background noise at all.

But when not in the truck, I do what most everyone else does - hold the phone up to my ear and talk. So far, no complaints from anyone else - or me. It seems that some phones have 'issues', others don't. I lucked out with my first phone. No major return-the-phone problems to report. Yet.... :icon_ banana:

So here I am, posting because I don't have any problems. I guess just to show that not everyone is.

Now watch, tonight it'll blow up in my hand...

The only pronb I had was with my first droif. If I used the speakerphone to listen to the muzac while I was waiting for some oen to help me from customer service you know my bank the VA, ECT. I noticed that if I hit the speakerphone button to used the hand set aginst my ear I had to tap the speakerphone two times to get the handset speaker to work. But with my second droid I never had this prob. Btw I had to get a second droid due to me droping it on concrete from about 4 ft and it erased its programming. All I got was a install software option in a semi dos like screen. The verizon tech had me reset the phone and all then she said she could either send me one by fedx and have it to me by 7pm the next day or to take it to the nearest Verizon and they would give me a new droid.

OK, I did this and it seems to have helped with call quality. However, the first thing you listed about the 150 something by 150 something. Well, that is at the bottom of that list but it IS NOT chosen. Should it be? The setting that is actually chosen is something like 150/6.1..not the 154/156 or something.

OK, so it should be the 150 by 150 something? OK, I set it as that. Thank you. Any other suggestions? Maybe you can help tell me why wifi isn't working :p. It is connecting fine, holding signal..just won't browse the Internet/market at all once it connects.

While I'm not entirely sure, logic dictates that a higher data bandwidth will result in better quality if using the same codec. Changing the data rate ostensibly allows you to transmit data at about 25 times what the stock setting is, so it should help out. Even if it doesn't, it makes me feel better :)
