Droid Galaxy S: Water damage.

I know, I know. A couple of days ago I dropped my phone in the toilet. :frown: I immediately took it apart and left it in rice overnight. The next day it turned on and seemed to be working fine except it will no longer connect to the internet via 3G. The wifi works fine. When I restarted the phone in prompted me to reformat my SD card, and I lost all of my contacts. I went to the At&t store, and the woman just told me to get another phone without even looking at my old one. Is this an internal issue, or something that got reset on my phone that I can fix myself somehow? Help!
Thank you!

:welcome: to the site, however, I don't have much help for you. The short answer is that it is most likely not an internal issue with the phone that you can fix; as phone's and water do not mix. Just go ahead and get it replaced, your contacts are tied to your google account and will re-appear on your new phone.

The long answer is that the 'rice' trick isn't all it's cracked up to be, usually you need to let the phone totally dry by itself and then perhaps take it slightly apart and use rubbing alcohol to further clean and dry it, but overall it's a total YMMV situation. Also, this section of this site is for the Galaxy Nexus and mainly leans towards the VZW version (SCH i515), you have a Galaxy S; a different phone all together.

I know, I know, you might think my last sentence is a closet flame. It's not, I'm just saying . . . . .

good luck
