Droid Gripes?

When using the virtual keyboard and choosing a word from the "suggested " word list, it auto places a period at the end of that word, which starts the next word with a CAP. Always have to backup to fix it before I continue typing. What a pain.

I MIGHT be wrong here... but I'm pretty sure if you select a suggestion, then press space it does an auto period and starts a new sentence- reason is because it automatically gives you a space after you suggestion. So selecting space after a auto space makes it think you want a new sentence.

I'm tired and mildly intoxicated so I could be wrong- but report back with findings =)

EDIT:

Just tested it, I was correct.

It automatically places a space after selecting a suggestion word. If you click space after selecting a suggestion the phone interprets it as two spaces... and thus a new sentence.

Problem solved for ya! =)

Yup... you're right! Thanks so much, it was driving me crazy! YAY!

I'm still not over the fact that there's no dedicated phone button, really muffles the whole "phone" aspect. I was driving so I gave my phone to someone else to make a call, and since it opened to the last application (browser), they were quite confused as to how to actually start dialing.

I use GDE and it is a great home screen replacement that allows you to customize 2 buttons that show up on the bottom of the home screen (where you swipe up on the Android home screen). To the left of the swipe up button I have a call button and to the right I have the browser. Very nice.

I had that same problem, getting the same message twice, and what you do is go into Notifications and you deselect... let me find the link for you, that will be easier.

Here you go. Direct from the Handcent developer's website (choose "d"): FAQ

Hope this helps! Now, for me... I have to somehow get "my dedicated camera button" back to activating the camera. Somehow, when I installed the Handcent apps, one of them took possession of that button, and now, when I click it, Handcent wants to create a new message.

Oh, the fun never ends!

(Seconds later: I found it! All I had to do to re-assign dedicated camera button to actually taking photos was disable "Quick Compose"! I love this Handcent application!)
Cool thanks, both helped me. Now two more questions about Handcent.
1) How do I make the wallpaper I have on my txts full screen? Its only taking the middle of the page, I want it to be the whole background.
2) How do I make the wallpaper on my Contacts full screen? You know, the menu before you get to the txts that shows who youre talking to? How do I make that one full screen?

not sure what you are referring to about no dedicated phone button...there is a button on the home page for the phone (ok, it's a virtual button, but a button just the same)... now my droid opens to the home page when i do the unlock thing....yours doesn't??

r3

Seems that auto brightness likes to jump around a lot.
Bluetooth voice command.
Screen activates in pocket when slider is only slightly open.
In a year, sliders will open too easily and we'll be MacGyvering ways to keep them closed.
Pocket activated screen has twice in one week set sound to off. (I'm positive it's not the volume rocker.)

I think I've counted about 100 reasons why a Droid is better than my last 9 phones and everything else currently available so I'm not going anywhere else soon.
