Droid keyboard not lighting up in 2.1 (not rooted)

got my droid last thursday and the keyboard lights worked the first day i got it. now ive had no luck. turns out its pretty hard to text in the dark. ive found other threads with this topic but no solutions work so far. ive tried multiple battery pulls/reboots/toggle brightness. just about everything. and it is not set on auto brightness. Any help is much appreciated. thank you in advance.

Did you try settings>language &keyboard>unchecking and rechecking the android keyboard. This worked for me when I had the same problem. If nothing else works maybe its time to take it back and get a replacement

It did not work but thank you for the suggestion! Guess its time for a replacement already haha

Not sure if you've tried this or not, but when this happens to me, just press the power button repeatedly until the lights turn back on. This fixes it for me every time.
