Droid Maxx

So I still have my Droid RAZR and now Verizon is giving away a free Droid Maxx....

So the big question, do I Upgrade for free ?

Anyone out there who has done this, what are your comments, good or bad ....

I am thinking it should be a no brainer but without knowing much about the Maxx I need Input......

If you don't want to spend any money for an upgrade or a phone then this is a great deal. This Maxx is two phone generations ahead of your current razr. It will seem familir to you since it is the same brand but it has been upgraded heavily. Not only is the technology within the device greater but you will be on 4.4.2 and have all of the unique features moto released like touchless control and active disaply...

However, if you are interested in root or ROMs then know the maxx is pretty heavily locked down. I believe there is a temporary root for it, but nothing perminent. If this doesnt mean anything to you or doesnt concern you then forget it.

The Maxx is an awesome phone.. 3500mah battery, bright crisp Samoled screen I believe.. If you have a razr, you'll love the battery life.. It has great connectivity..

As GoCliffGo05 says.. It has a temporary root. But that's it.

Lots of other awesome features. :)

Sorry to stack up on you.. But I really like the phone.

Comes down to Unlimited data. Do you still have it and do you still want it? You can get unlocked bootloaders for most of the Droids right now so if you truly wanted root you "could" get it.

I have an unlocked and rooted Maxx. Love the battery and responsiveness.

To get an unlocked bootloader on the new Maxx you'd need to buy the developer edition. They don't offer those as upgrades for free. There is no exploit to unlock the standard edition.

Not true at all. You can buy an unlock code for a non-developer edition.

If that works for you then cool. I know it's out there but be weary of it.

Word on the street is that the new line of DROIDs (and Moto X) are coming out sometime in August. But if you don't want to wait or keep unlimited data, then go for it! It's a great device.

I'll also make you aware that Verizon is having a huge software issue with Motorola's currently. Granted, a fix is scheduled for the end of June, beginning of July, but I wouldn't guarantee it.

Lots of great info....

The Maxx being locked down is Ok for me.

Do we know any highlights about the new Droids or Moto X ???

No leaks on the new Droids afiak.. The moto x+1 has leaks but nothing definitive.. Moto usually drops the new Droid line in late August or September-ish Lol. GoCliffGo05 is a serious moto guy.. I am too .. But he's more knowledgeable in rooting and roms.. And probably everything else lol.:hail:

What issue? My X seems to be fine.
