Droid Power Up Synthetic Voice

Just picked up my Droid on the 12th. Have had it on most of the time but when I did power down and then turned it on again, on the start up, I didn't hear the "DROID" synthetic voice. I've tried it a couple times since then and I still am not hearing it. Is there a setting I must turn on to get it to return? Thanks !
