DROID RAZRMAX on the Way? Is This the HD Version of the RAZR?

I mentioned in another thread that I'm not biting on this one yet but if it is in fact true I have absolutely ZERO issues with it and here's why.

The RAZR has been a near perfect piece of equipment. No reboots, lag, force closes etc etc. The handset is solid.

If it had a terrible screen and was thick then I'd have a serious issue with this whole thing but as it stands now I'm very very happy with the RAZR. Awesome handset........

We're not sure just what the plans are for this hardware, but we'll definitely be looking to find more information to help flesh-out our picture of it. Might there just be a new battery, or could Motorola have other changes (like a new HD display) in store for the phone?

I get the feeling that if it were an HD version of the RAZR, somehow they would capitalize on the name and call it the RAZRHD or something. I am betting that this is simply a slightly thicker, heavier version of the RAZR with an "extended" battery fitted. It is probably a response to concerns about the battery life, and may be aimed at corporate users. I get the feeling that the "MAX" part refers to battery life.

Of course it's ALL speculation at this point, but that's what makes it fun.

Oh dear....now instead of "Moto should let me swap my Bionic for the Razr" we'll be hearing "Moto should let me swap my Razr for the RazrMaxx".

HAHA I still have my D1 around somewhere I think i might start using it again and then demand a Droid4 when they release it because I no longer get LTE speeds. Think it will work?

Brings to light a real comical with this, what's next RAZR MAX ultimate QUAD-CORE? Could this be the first 1920 x 1080 Super AMOLED display? That'd be something. Speaking of which, Quad-Cores will not be optimized until Jelly-bean comes out?

instead of releasing phone after phone with nearly the same exact specs within 2 months of eachother. who not release a solid piece of work and then working to make the next phone even better and very different than that?

starting to think moto is like pokemon...they just level up after a certain amount of weeks:D

One word = "Marketing"

After 30+ years in Marketing, I can attest "newer", "better", "faster", "cheaper" will always increase sales.
Even if there is only one bell or whistle that floats your boat over the previous version, there is that thing that makes you want the latest and greatest.

After all, creating buyers remorse is what drives us to new cars, larger TV's, etc. It's just a game.

Cool phone. Im sure SNS (Shiny New ****) syndrome will be in full swing. Now release my Bionic update as thats all i care about.

Actually moto had a number of complaints that when thrown against a building not only did the Razr not cut said building down, but it broke. The Max will be able to cut through anything except diamond and some of the more durable metals, at least that's what I heard.

In all seriousness another rumored device already is pretty crazy. I like variety but more time between new device cycles would not be a bad thing IMO.
someone should sue moto for false advertisement then lol

Personally, devices rolling out faster is a good thing because it gets us that much closer to made-to-order.

I don't get all the whining, though. No one complains when they buy a computer and 2 months later a better processor, better hard drive, or more ram comes out at a better price. It's just the way things are. And if you want to waste $600 every few months, no one is stopping you.

Very true. I always make the statement that the computer I am going to buy tomorrow is already outdated. I would still prefer there was a longer period of time between these incremental (for lack of a better term at this hour) devices, but that is just my preference.

While the specs may not vary drasticly from model to model, the form factors seem to be a bit different, and let's not forget, that is one of the things that makes android unique. We are not limited to a single device or form factor for an entire year or two as is the case with the iPhone.

I get what you mean but there is a big difference between computer processors and SoC processors. With a computer cpu, if a new model drops in 2 months that has decreased power usage by 2 watts, for example, it is really not a big deal. You don't look at it and think, oh thats going to bring my electric bill down a few bucks. But when dealing with SoC, 2 watts could mean 45 minuets of extra talk time, for example. It could mean 10 min more data usage, and say it jumps 300Mhz that can mean a noticeable increase where as with a desktop/laptop cpu you would see little real world improvement. The only place you really notice it is in benchmark scores. Also, computers based CPUs are significantly more powerful to begin with.I could have bought a Core 2 Quad Q6600 back when it was released, and have a reasonably powerful cpu even today. But if I bought a phone with a top of the line SoC at the same time, it would struggle to run gingerbread or ICS. I think the D1 is a good example of this from the sounds of it. I don't recall exactly when the D1 was releases but it is an aging device that seems to be on it's last leg.
