Droid stolen....

The reason they can't send you one now is because they don't have them yet. If they were going to do a "similar" replacement, they would just send a phone. Go by a VZW store and talk to a manager. Call corporate. See what can be done even if it is a lower level loaner phone until your Droid comes in.

Good luck. Thieves suck.

They will send you out a new device. Dont listen to this garbage. They will only send you a like new device if its no longer manufactured. I processed a lost droid for a customer last week i looked yesterday and they have a droid active on their account. They will probably send you a new device, and flag the old esn.

phoneclaim.com/verizon to complete your claim. Be greatful verizon has agreements with ascurion to be the the lowest pda deductible out of any othere US carrier. :)

Yeah guys. I think I should get the same phone, talked to them today. It was on backorder this morning. They actually called to update me. But I logged on to check my claim a few hours later and it said it was ready to go.

Expected delivery date is 12/5, I just wonder how early it could be.

The deductible was $90. Thats better than buying a new unit yes, but really not super cheap. Considering I got the phone for $99 dollars after rebate and account credit.... Course I bought the bundle there in the store too for $60. So $160 for the phone and fixings and I used it for 6 days before it was stolen. So it sucks I have to shell out another $90 bucks so soon.

The rebate, now that will be a whole new mess I think.... Luckily I hadn't mailed it yet, just filled it out. I was told when I received the new Droid I would have to use its esn for the rebate.... I am sure this will somehow become an issue....

So does the Ascurion provide DROID replacement? It's the insurance I have on my phone... i'm still in my 30 day window and if they don't replace DROID for DROID I'm gonna have to switch to VZW's insurance to be safe.

YOur under warranty if your in first 30 days, just go exchange it at verizon.

And its $89 fee if you try to do that with assurion.[or however its spelled]

What are the insurance options? I thought it was too expensive when I bought the phone, but I wouldn't be happy if I lose it. I'm still within the 30 days, so I think I can add it now.

THey told me it had to be within the first 5 days to add insurance when I bought my LG Voyager...but idk..that was a year n a half ago

I am glad you are getting your Droid! Good news.

As for the rebate, have your account notated so that when your rebate is denied (although it should not be as you will have a new box with a new esn and a new esn on the account...) you can at least call VZW and have them fix it.

As for folks asking about insurance. The insurance is not cheap, no. However, at $8 and an $89 deductible and a retail price of $599 it would take 63 months for the insurance costs to equal the cost of a new Droid should yours be broken or stolen. Do you think you'll have this Droid in 5 years? Do you think it might get broken or stolen? Then get the insurance. They do replace a Droid with a Droid and will continue to do so until this Droid is no longer made or available at which time they will replace it with a like phone.

And while the deductible is high, it is lower than most other carrier's deductible for smartphones.

No, no...you spelt it right :icon_ banana:

Unfortunately, Asurion is VZW's insurance carrier of choice.

Within first 30 you can add. Im not sure on current pricing because I have have the old 5/month 50 dollar deductible plan since I've had it for 5 years. It has bailed me out more times than I'd like to admit, too.

Sorry for confusion... thought I read a post that said Assurion wasn't replacing a DROID for DROID (similar phone replacement, not exact). I just wanted to see if any one could confirm this.

I don't need to replace mine as it's had ZERO issues... I just wanted to find out before my 30 days was up in the event something did happen down the road.

They will be replacing it with another Droid. But someone earlier in the thread mentioned I wouldn't be getting a Droid, instead a similar phone. But I just got off the phone with them and they said no I should have a brand new droid in my hand tomorrow. No different phone.

I personally think the insurance on such an expensive phone is a no brainer. I will keep the insurance for a year and a half. I am sure within that time a new version or better phone even will come out and I will go upgrade.
