droid tablets

I am curious to what you ppl think of a good tablet but a fairly cheap priced one? We are thinking of getting 3 of them for our daughters but without the monthly contract obviously with all the wifi going around. Now the site Pandawill.com has some serious low prices but being in china how good will the service be if something goes wrong in the 1st year. We are up in arms whether to go with a windows or a android platform too. Should we look at the tablets or go with a 10" laptop instead? Please post any concerns or ideas if you will.

The wife and I looked at tablets at Best Buy yesterday. They have two really inexpensive ones. One is the Pandigital and the other I don't remember the name (it has a physical keyboard on the bottom of it. I think the Pandigital was $149 and the one-without-a-name was $119. I've read descent reviews of the pandigital. At least with buying from Best Buy, you will have a service department if service is needed.

Now that the Nook Color has been rooted, we're going to get my wife one of those. They are a quite decent tablet when rooted.

I looked at that one looks good for price but what a couple with a camera as well? The price isnt much different from tablet to mini laptop i guess.

You can root the nook? That's pretty sweet, are they fairly powerful devices hardware-wise? I have an Amazon kindle and its definitely not a powerhouse. Nook is a different device though, I'd expect the performance to be better out of it over the kindle, which is more basic.
