[APPS] Droid X/2 Overclock App - Easy & Noob friendly ;)

I'm the living proof that it can.:)

I am surprised! I was under the impression (from Jrummy16 himself) that Overclock could not be used on the Droid 2 Global. Because of the different bootloader that is used, as he said.

I used it for a while to display battery temp but it could not change the frequency at all.

Anything you can tell us, jrummy16, about this? Were you able to solve the bootloader issue?

I would love to hear that it will overclock the Droid 2 Global.

Anyone figure out a fix for this on .591? It keeps telling me that there is no overclock module installed and when I try the experimental module, it does nothing. Can't go over 1ghz or use another other options here. When I try to press on the extras tab as well it FC on me. JRummy....any ideas? Anyone??

Could be the rom.

I have read that people are running Zombie Stomped (a .591 rom) with overclocking but I don't know if it is through the app or an option in the rom, much like Liberty allows overclocking through the liberty settings/toolbox.

kinda fun to play with, but not too useful...

it's kinda fun to play with but anything over 1.2ghz and my phone is so slow you'd think it was frozen... :icon_eek: worth $1.50 for entertainment value but I'll probably never use it for anything more than the ad blocker...

You should consider testing different settings with quadrant benchmarks. Also, consider running an ultra low voltage (ulv) setting, this will improve battery life. This app is about more than just speed.

I really wish I could get this working right. I can oc with milestone and use dx oc to control the low end but I miss using the ulv part of it to save batt life. @Jrummy...any idea why it says no oc module is installed and I can't use the app fully? Im running .591 if ANYONE has any ideas that would be awesome!

Edit: I got it to work. Somehow in the settings the disable module got checked. It works now. Running ulv @ 1.2. Constant 1800+ quadrant now.

So is it safer to run it in lower frequencys or higher, I'm using a droid X, anyone have a good setting that they use to optimize the power and not kill your battery too much

The higher the frequency, the faster your phone will run and the more battery it will consume. Set the frequency too high and if your phone can't handle it, you will experience issues like apps crashing, or your phone rebooting or freezing.

The lower the voltage, the less battery it consumes but if it's set too low you will experience issues again like apps crashing, phone rebooting or freezing.

Most people start with Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) and pick a speed they like.

Personally, stock frequency is fast enough for me but I undervolt for battery life. The ULV presets in the app are actually a little conservative so I actually took the time to find out what the lowest voltage my phone can handle for stability and to optimize battery life. Then I setup a custom preset and apply that instead. I have a Droid X too and if you are interested, I can tell you what my custom presets are. Each phone is different so you may have to tweak the voltages a little bit.

Definitely, if you could shoot me those specs just so I have an idea of around where I need to be and I can test from there. Thanks for the reply btw

Here is what was stable for me. If I went any lower, I experienced issues.

Slot 1 Freq: 300000
Slot 1 Volt: 20
Slot 2 Freq: 600000
Slot 2 Volt: 32
Slot 3 Freq: 800000
Slot 3 Volt: 43
Slot 4 Freq: 1000000
Slot 4 Volt: 54

Sorry to bring an older post back up, but can someone please explain what the different Givernors under 'settings' do? Default is they are unchecked, but I am not sure if they are worth enabling or not. I have done some research and I know the governor controls how the CPU speed is adjusted, but not sure the specifics on the Interactive, Conservative, and Smartass as built into the DX OC app.

Just a side note, still testing but using a combination of QuickClock advanced and this app, my current settings are:
Slot 1 CPU min 300000
Slot 1 voltage: 18
Slot 2: 500000
Slot 2 voltage: 32
Slot 3: 800000
Slot 3 voltage: 45
Slot 4: 1150000
Slot 4 voltage: 62

Average temperature increased from 86 degrees to 89 with the changes. No big deal though
