Droid X newbie questions

I am new to Driod Land and Droid forums (1st post) ..................coming from Blackberry World and I am so loving the change . But I have some questions.

1) is there a way to change the apps around on the main men screen to put the most frequently used ones at the top?

2) is wifi or the 3g better? Certain spots I don't have good 3g or 1x coverage (1 bar or 2) but wifi is available .

3) Is there a way or app to assign contacts specific text tones ( like in BB)

4) How do you get the smilies or android man to show up in the sms or emails instead of the symbols? eg. instead of

1. I don't have an X but I'm assuming it's the same as the original droid. Long press then drag and drop to where you want.

2. Wifi is generally faster than 3G yes.

3. Ringo is a great app to assign individual contacts a custom tone or led color. Ringdroid is great for creating your own ringtones.

4. You have to include the nose (-) if you type it out. : - ) with no spaces. Or you can hit menu>>insert smiley.

Does Ringo assign sms contact tones ? I already downloaded Ring driod
ok so when I get a message why don't I get the smiliey instead of symbols
and if I long press an icon it goes to the homescreen

I don't think ringo assigns sms tones but i would suggest that you download and try out a program called Handcent from the market and use it as your default sms app. Its far superior to the stock sms app in my opinion. You can set specific sms tones per contact edit the appearance of the app (change background colors, fonts, led color, etc).
