Please don't go around acting high and mighty accusing people of false information when you are stating guesses and assumptions as Gospel, put the pipe down and have a read:

Android 2.3 is reserved for the Nexus S; Android 2.4 also is Gingerbread | Android Central

Well, first, you used a rumor as the basis for your argument, that ice cream sandwhich is next, and then tell him that he doesn't need to post without accurate information. Yet, from what we've heard from the likes of Andy Rubin and such says that Android 2.4 is next and backports the work they did to support dual core devices to the current Android version for phones.

Now, Ice Cream Sandwich, or whatever I turns out to be, has yet to be officially announced, talked about or spotted, so your information itself isn't that accurate.

You are quite the uninformed poster. And unpunctuated. See how well a post can flow when it uses some punctuation? ;)

How about this when dx gets ginger bread then we can see what version its called and if ice cream sandwich is announced we can settle this cause it sounds dumb to call gb 2.4 and ice cream 2.5 its like there just skipping a os
Also tankspank and so haunted noone truly knows until the update starts rolling to our devices while you complain about my punctuation it seems like thats what you most care about this is a discussion we are all sharing opionions I felt like some information was false so I spoke on it no need to tag team on me :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we can install custom ROM's on the X right? Then why can't we have Gingerbread in the form of a custom ROM using the 2.3.3 source? Sorry I'm a little out of the X loop - I still have mine, but I'm now rollin' with the $25/month LG Opt V - #teamprepaid ftw... or somethin' like that.

There are gingerbread roms floating around.

They're for d1..... Some devs have incorporated parts of gb into d2/x roms such as the launcher and the black status bar.

Point being that just because theyre out for d1 doesnt mean its even close to being available for release to the X/d2....

Well, guess you weren't around for Android 2.0 and Android 2.1, both of which were called Eclair?

The way it played for Android 2.0, which was launched on the Droid 1, is that it ended up ONLY being on the Droid officially and on other devices through customs roms (ports and aosp). It was, mostly, just an update specifically for one device. Android 2.1 came around, and so did the Nexus 1, and many devices got Android 2.1. Both were called Eclair.

Now, let's look at 2.3. Android 2.3, a.k.a. Gingerbread, was released on the Nexus S. The only other device, so far, to get Gingerbread officially (if you can call it that) was the Nexus 1, which as long as it's hardware is capable, will receive the latest updates before most other devices. Now, on the horizon, we have another release eminent. It is a small update, like 2.0 to 2.1, which will add just a few changes and most likely be released on more devices.

Catching the drift?

The whole comment on punctuation is that a little punctuation, like here, makes it a little easier to read. It creates pauses and ends sentences instead of it going on and on and on... We aren't children (well, I hope you aren't. I still am considered one XD).

AOSP roms on a Droid X is quite a feat. On the kernel included with the X, it made Froyo just a little bit easier, though still tough as most other feats in the Android community. Now, even though much hasn't change on the internals between 2.2 to 2.3, enough has changed to make it that much harder to get done, and not many people are working on it. CVPCS is working on CM7 for the X, but I haven't heard much of an update on it since he got it booting. It IS possible, just like getting AOSP on the X ended up being possible yet still broken, just it isn't going to be easy at all.

Dude, I was trying to help you seem like less of an idiot on this forum and inform you on something you might not have known. I pointed out how it would make sense for the next version to be called gingerbread and you flat out ignore it and instead just shoot down my post. You are really something else.

If you have nothing of substance to post (i.e. your rumors you threw around), then why post at all? People try to hold conversations on here and having things thrown around does not help the conversation at all. If you have facts that point in one direction that gives a definitive answer, then post away. But what you have posted strays threads off course and misinforms someone, and makes yourself seems less intelligent in the process.
