Droid X successfully overclocked

That's an understatement. Even applying the "for root users" Froyo update removed my root access. As of right now, I'm of no use to you guys until I can regain root. Not sure what happened unless Moto tricked us with the "for root" update.

SBF back to 2.1, root, and update again. I still have root.

Yep, I know, it's just a pain. In the process of documenting all my installed apps, home screens and customizations so I can redo them all.

If you followed the directions, you wouldn't have lost ROOT. It isn't an understatement, it is a user-error on your part.

Also, flashing the SBF doesn't remove any applications or non-system data, contacts or anything. There is no need to document anything.

Now, that is my experience from flashing the SBF .604 from a rooted 2.1. Maybe it does remove non-system data and apps along with the homescreens and contacts, etc when flashing to the 2.1 SBF from the leaked 2.2? Is that what you've heard?

Exactly. SBF only does /system

All my apps and settings are still there after an SBF

After the SBF back to 2.1 I was in a reboot loop and had to do a factory reset on it though to get it to stop.

Also, the Droid Life instructions did not mention anything about moving su, at least not as of a few hours ago when I bit the bullet and did the udpate.

you do need to move su to make sure SU works lol. i did. and now it works fine.

When you are doing something like this and it has a step by step process its typically a good idea to update the original post to show what you have learned so far.

This is a big pain to go through 19 pages especially with a lot of the posts be irrelevant

Yes. I got my phone back up to 2.2 rooted but haven't put any of my apps back yet. Planning to do that tomorrow or Sunday. Busy weekend, unfortunately.

Hopefully by Sunday evening I'll have a build for 2.2 and I'll update the OP.

I'm a droid noob, How do i change the values

dont waste your time if you have no idea what youre doing.

Don't be a jackoff. A forum is for asking questions, let him do as he pleases.

Now to iDr0id:
use root explorer ( assuming you have rooted your phone, if not, have a look at rootzwiki ), and long press on the 'setscaling.sh' file, then scroll down and click open in text editor. From there, BE VERY PRECISE on your touching of the screen. If you delete an incorrect value, you could very well f--- up everything. Make SURE you're clicking in the right spot. And remember, the values with voltages are in HZ. The values without are in MHZ.

K... so im having an issue with setcpu. I have everything set up and working, but no scaling. On startup i use the insmod then setscaling method to begin the overclock. Setcpu, however, refuses to scale and remains at max speed. Also bogomips displays the lowest clock speed, which is clearly wrong as the phone runs great. Any ideas?

I originally had this problem. Make sure your values in the upper half of the setscaling script are correct. If you're clocked over 1 Ghz or @1Ghz, make sure you have one 0 past the <1Ghz values otherwise it wont scale.

ex:

echo 3 800000000 57 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps
echo 4 120000000 80 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps

Needs to be

echo 3 800000000 57 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps
echo 4 1200000000 80 > /proc/overclock/mpu_opps

+1! Thanks man, that was the issue.

Sorry guys, haven't been able to get a successful compile working since I don't have the actual source that they're working off of. I've tried a few ways so far to try to trick it into installing, but so far no luck. We may have to wait for the official release from Moto so that they will post the source code so I can use it to recompile the module.

I'll keep at it, but don't get your hopes up before the official 2.2 release.
