Droid X's arriving early!

I guess they were calling it excellent when compared to the Incredible's battery life. I have seen a few different people say that it is on par with the original Droid's battery life (so basically enough to get you through the day without having to recharge).

I was watching a video review where the reviewer stated there is a bunch of apps and other unwanted stuff that comes pre-loaded and running in the background and that once he manually stopped them from running they battery's life, as expected, became great. Wondering if any of the lucky people who got theirs earlier have tried this and if it is true?

I don't know why so many people want a battery to last 1,000 days?? As long as it gets me through the day, that is all I need.

I haven't tried this yet. Like I said, I'm a brand new Android user and am still trying to get used to this OS. It sounds logical that this would help.

Can you provide some feedback? Call quality, battery life, etc?

Please...All everyone is doing is saying "I got Mine", but I have not seen one good review of the device by a normal user.....

What type of review would you like from me? For starters, this is my first Android device so I'm still getting used to it.

The phone is VERY fast and the browser is EXCELLENT!! :icon_ banana:

I don't like the fact that the home screen does not rotate (coming from a storm where it would). For some reason if I get an email with multiple responses I can only click a hotlink in the first one??? (For instance, I keep getting emails from replies on this thread but I can only get a hotlink to the web address in the initial email. I can see the address in the following emails but can't click)

Unfortunately, the hotlink issue you mentioned is like that on every phone running Android. I was hoping the 2.2 update would fix it but it doesn't seem to have changed.

It's not that bad, but is semi annoying. I liked that on my BB.

The local corporate store here has a X on hand. Going to check it out over lunch. Yuppeee!

I just called my local corporate store here in Las Vegas. They have a non-functioning dummy version of the X on display. If nothing else, one could get an idea about the size.

So the screen doesn't rotate? What's that about? I am wondering if the battery compartment is the same and if I will be able to use the extended battery I recently bought. I am assuming not since the X is bigger overall, but would love to know for sure....

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think android device's homescreens rotated.

Cool, my local store had an actual working model of the phone.... hidden away via a Verizon Rep. Nice to have a few buddies working for Verizon to give me a glimpse of it ahead of time.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the stock versions never rotated and it was just added in just about every custom rom

I just got back from the local store. They had the dummy X hidden in the back, but let me see it anyway since I called about it. If they had a working one, they didn't let on about it.

My main concern was size. Not going to be an issue for me or my wife. It felt very good in my hand. Also put it in several pockets - not too big at all. Gonna be a sweet device! :)

FWIW, I asked the sales rep's opinion on availability. He's anticipating long lines but believes there will be enough for everyone who wants one on the 15th and subsequent days. Of course, I'm taking that with a grain of salt because he wants the sale. Time will tell.

Here's one quick pic! Gotta go for now. Didn't have my camera on me and I had to to use my s2 so it's not that great but here you go:

You lucky dog! Can you provide some feedback? Call quality, battery life, etc?

Call quality is really good and the noise cancellation is excellent. The battery life seems decent for now. After all of the reviews, I really thought the battery was going to be ridiculously good, but it's not. I pretty much made it through the day yesterday, granted I've been playing with it a lot :D.

Isn't it Gorgeous?!!! I so can't wait... Thank you for sharing...

Sorry I don't have a custom ROM, I do have Launcher Pro beta installed and I guess I got used to that. Everything but the phone screen rotates.
