DroidX latest update completely changed my phone?

reboot into recovery and do a factory reset, your phone should work fine after that (but backup anything you don't want to lose, you will have to set the phone up again)

Thanks Leftspin. But you see that just really ticks me off. I have aps downloaded and my phone set up the way I want. I might as well just get a new phone. Factory reset is a royal PITA! I'm really pissed at motorola right now.
Thanks

I'll be making the plunge Saturday moving from Z4 rooted Froyo to GingerBread and then rooting again. Anyone want to recommend the best backup practices for backing up apps and contacts and such before I unroot and sbf this sucker??????????????

Plus someone please confirm my intended steps below...
1. Unfreeze the updater app, I froze last week.
2. Unroot using the Z4 app.
3. SBF to the 602 release of GingerBread
4. Root with D3 1 click method.

I used TiBu and I have all my contacts on my google acct. I only reinstalled apps w/ data, no system data.

After SBF to .602 w/ factory reset take OTA update to .605 then D3 one click and you're good.

I was wondering overnite. Can't I just unroot with Z4 and then just take the OTA update and then D3 one click???

But yeah, I'm no expert but if you took the OTA then D3 one click you shouldn't lose any of your settings and things should be fine.

WooooooooooooooHooooooooooooooo! I just finished my first SBF!!!!! It wasn't too bad. I just went to 605 GingerBread from my old Froyo. I didn't do the Factory Rest because I didn't know how much I'd loose. I would kind of like a clean start, but does it wipe every single think out? I mean a clean desktop and all?

Well I've had GB for about 12 hours now and I'm very impressed. It seems very fast. I have a couple of questions for you guys!!!
1. Seven home screens. Can I cut it to 3?
2. On the dock at night, I dim the screen but the hard buttons stay lite full brightness. It didn't do that on Froyo.
3. Can I set different notification settings for when its docked at night? I'd like for it not to flash or make noise while sleeping but still ring for any calls.

Thanks in advance.

I'm running a rooted Rubix custom ROM and I want to upgrade to GB.

So far, I have:

1. Created a nandroid backup using Koush's Droid X Bootstrapper
2. Created a full backup using Titanium Pro

Now, do I want to use the maderstock - OTA 2.3.3.340 update.zip to bring it back to Froyo stock
or can I just run the GB .602 sbf file to bring it up to GB and then run the oneclickroot to root it?

Thanks!

Here's probably a dumb question, but I will ask anyway. When I do a Titanium backup, do I want to do just apps, or do I want to do apps and system data?
