Echo or reverb in phone calls

Yeah, During calls it REPEATEDLY goes back to echo. And i have to mute it over and over again.
To fix it....-.-

Kage, are you muting it, or switching to speaker and then back?

Muting. Seems to have the same effect.

The reason I"m asking is you say it repeatedly goes back to echo.. you mean in the same phone call?... or later in other calls.. because so far the speaker on and then off procedure completely takes care of that particular phone call.

But yes, I have to do it on other calls when that happens again.

Hey guys... sorry, I just joined the forum so I am a little behind the curve. Does the voice privacy setting & the *228 1 & 2 fix the muffled sound of my voice & the background static, as well as the echo? I don't have the echo problem, but I do have static & I sound muffled to my callers. Thanks for any insight you can give.

I turned my voice privacy off too.. seems it helps the clarity some.. I also turned on the Vodcodec ERVC -B.

While I think those may help clarity, it does not stop the echo.

Doing *228 is only temporary too ... I think it only works because the loop is broken as the phone resets.

It sounds like Dec 11 is the day we will all party or get our torches... not sure which yet!

I sure hope its a party!! I love my Droid, other than the call quality issue. But I'm still within my 30 days on Dec 11, so we'll see. Thanks so much for you input!

Same phone call. -.-

Out of curiosity.. try the speaker phone next time.
I haven't heard of anyone yet who had it come back after using the speakerphone button.... at least none I've seen posting.

I've just confirmed the speakerphone button does the trick.

As for the mute, that only clears the "cutting out on my end" when in mute, but unmuting will return the problem.

Who'd of thunk it?

I am on my third Motorola Droid due to the echoing issue (Not knowing of the speakerphone trick, because I'm new to the forum). And I'll be damned, I've had two conversations where the person on the other end said they were echoing, low and behold I turned the speakerphone on then off again, and wa la no more echoing. I would of never believed it. I'm assuming this is one of the fixes in the 12/11 update. I love my Droid, even with the known issues.

I'm not the one who found it.... someone several pages back tripped upon it.. I've just been pushing it because its so slick and works so well and also am curious if there is 'anybody" that it doesn't work on.

At least the phone is usable till they fix it with this workaround.

Agreed. Windstrings, you are the man! Thanks to you for helping us out.

I can't take the credit.. Fro figured it out back in post # 58

When you're in a call - toggle the speakerphone on and off (the lower right softkey in the in-call screen). Works like a champ every time I hear noise or the person on the far end complains of echo. Sure beats power cycling or pulling the battery! :motdroidhoriz:
It just seemed like folks kept missing his comments so I kept reminding them of this great find.

Interesting that Fro has only posted 2 times as of this date.. makes me wonder if he's a moto tech trying to help us out and tie us over till the real fix comes along!

I got the update today and I still have the echo and bad connection with other VZW customers. I do use the speakerphone solution, but it looks like the update didn't do anything for my phone. :(

The update did fix the echo... if you still have it.. I would confirm you indeed have the 2.0.1 firmware, otherwise take the phone back..

Your the first person I've heard of that has an echo with the update.

Now that update is out and it fixes that problem, theres no use in putting up with it.
