Where exactly does Android fragmentation stand as of now? Well, Google addressed this very question today, and the report is rather interesting. According to Google, Eclair (Android 2.1) is on 55.5% of all Android smartphones, as opposed to 50% in June. You can also see that Android 1.5 and 1.6 are slightly decreasing in prevalence, but still maintain a large percentage of all Android phones (40-ish%). And what about FroYo? FroYo makes a solid appearance on the "fragmentation" chart, with a 3.3% sliver.

Check out the historical distribution of Android Fragmentation in the chart below:

With Android 2.2 slated for the Droid 1 and Incredible sometime soon, here's to hoping that the FroYo slice will be much larger by the next report.

LOL, would love to know how much of that 3.3% for Froyo is rooted Droids.

But I wonder what those of us on Froyo show as? Guessing it would be whatever you last system updated, so probably 2.1 for most of us (though some might be 1.6 or 2.0?)
