email notifications

I have my email notifications box checked in my email settings on my Motorola Droid. For some reason, the email notification symbol ever appears in the status bar when I receive new emails. Any help figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for being vague Johnly. I was able to resolve the issue by downloading Tone Picker. Thank you for the reply
